"The receptionist provides excellent customer care . Electrician, Sergey Lange, is highly competent, professional, friendly, patient with customer questions and concerns. He completed a mountain of work in one 12 hour day based on an approved task based quote for the job. He installed four new lines and relabeled the garage electrical panel in preparation for a garage remodel mini split, refrigerator, central vacuum and powerful motor new insulated garage doors. New lighting and outlets also installed. I was anxious about it all and he remained calm."

"Great service. Contacted me and scheduled to come the next day. Evaluated my needs and gave me a quote. Was a little high for what I was hoping, but overall, really did get my moneys worth. Especially with electrical issues. Did a safety check of the house which also gave me peace of mind."

"There were many things wrong in my computer (my fault and letting grandchildren on computer) Robert was so helpful, gave me many good instructions to keep everything safe, which I have written down, feel like I have a new computer. He was so excellent and experienced, took his time and was meticulous about what needed to be done. He was a pleasure to work with and I will use this company again! Linda Disy"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

No, it’s extremely dangerous to cap off live electrical wires. Working with live wires puts you at serious risk of electric shock, which can cause injury or even be fatal. Whenever you need to cap off electrical wires or complete any electrical work in general, it’s essential to shut the power off at the breaker before you begin.

You should never wire neutral and ground wires together at a light switch. Not only is it unsafe, but it’s also incorrect. The neutral and ground wires perform separate functions in an electrical circuit and should never be swapped or wired together at a light switch, light, or outlet.

Like any other household appliance, electric fireplaces can wear out after about 10 to 20 years. With more frequent use, the parts will wear out quicker, and you may get just 7 to 10 years out of a well-loved electric fireplace. Fortunately, electric fireplaces come with a lower upfront installation cost compared to alternatives like gas, so you can install a replacement for less.

It can be safe to buy or live in a house with knob and tube (K&T) wiring, but only if the system is in good condition, functional, and has been thoroughly inspected and approved by a licensed electrician. Never purchase a home with K&T wiring without getting a professional electrical inspection first.

Key considerations include:

  • Safety and Condition: An inspector will verify that the wiring is safe and has not deteriorated. Over time, the insulation can wear away, leaving exposed wires that pose a significant fire or shock hazard.

  • System Capacity: The electrical service should be at least 60 amps. However, even at this capacity, K&T systems often struggle to handle the demands of modern appliances and electronics.

  • Lack of Grounding: Knob and tube wiring is an ungrounded system, which is a safety concern for many modern devices.

  • Ongoing Maintenance: If you live in a home with K&T wiring, it's recommended to have it inspected by an electrician every one to two years to ensure it remains in safe working order.

Ultimately, any inspection or modification of a knob and tube system should always be performed by a certified professional.

When shopping for a multimeter to handle this job, make sure you purchase one that is able to test for capacitance. While most multimeters offer this function, some do not. You shouldn’t have to spend a lot of money to find the right multimeter. There are models that can perform this test that cost as little as $10.
