"When we decided to go forward with our backyard project, it was an easy decision to hire Julio’s company again. We first hired him a few years ago for a brand new sod install, new irrigation, and a garden bed in our front lawn. His team was on time, did quality work, and are friendly and honest people. Fast forward to this year, we wanted to make our backyard into usable space. It required a retaining wall, bringing in dirt to level the yard, laying gravel, and creating a fire pit to lounge at. The project also had a tight timeframe - one that I only trusted Julio with. I will hire Julio again and again and I wholeheartedly recommend him. You’ll be happy you reached out to him for your landscaping project."

"They did a real good job. They were real professional. We can now open the garage door from the inside of the house and now it is so smooth that we have to check to see if we hit the button to open it or close it.  Before we used to know when it was opening or closing because it used to make a noise. It helps when you move to a city where you are new. "

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Preparation involves site assessment, clearing debris, grading surfaces, and compacting soil to support stable construction.

Drilled wells have a pipe sticking up that’s covered in a plastic or metal casing. On the other hand, a dug well will look like a big hole in the ground and is more similar to what you’d see in a fantasy or Western movie. If you want to be sure, contact the city for documentation on your property’s construction and excavation history.

Yes, most services include site leveling and foundation work. Confirm with your contractor for specifics.

Yes, trenchers can go through gravel. Gravel is made up of smaller, softer rocks that certain trenchers are able to cut through. Just be sure to use a rock wheel trencher or chain trencher, both of which are made to cut through rocky landscapes and gravel pathways without dulling the teeth or chain.

Slab foundations are more affordable than crawl spaces because they require minimal excavation, as the slab sits directly on the ground or on footers that only sink a few feet into the ground. Crawl spaces require excavation of the entire footprint of the home to several feet below the surface. Not only does that mean higher labor costs, but more materials are necessary for the concrete foundation walls.
