"Zack and his team did a Palm and Pine removal for me!! Was extremely pleased and impressed with their work. They were in and out without a sign of their presence! They worked safely near our roof and service drop and cleaned up the mess flawlessly! Would definitely hire again!"

"Fast and efficient at removing two trees from our backyard. It was amazing watching these three guys work, you could tell they have their system down working together. Had the trees down in under two hours, cleaned everything up and I couldn't be happier with the service and price. As long as this company is in business, I will always go through them. Beyond awesome, thank you!!!"

"This tree service couple is absolutely amazing. Had to have a tree 14ft in diameter removed from our new house in front of our garage. They were fast, friendly, efficient, extremely well priced and cleaned up some of our own tree trimmings for no extra cost. If I could rate them 10 stars I definitely would. I highly recommend going through their services for any tree removal or trimming. Left our property sparkling clean, will go through them again for future projects."

"Stu did great work in assessing what my trees needed and that included not only the trimming, but also he assessed the irrigation to the trees and how to keep the roots healthy. It’s more than just trimming: Stu takes the whole health of the tree, shrub, plant, into consideration."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

If you’re taking down a tree that you don’t suspect is affected by disease or pests and it’s nowhere near your home or other structures, then calling in a tree company should work fine. However, anything more involved means an arborist is a better option. These pros have years of experience with tree removal and can safely take down trees located next to structures, and they have the tools, sanitization equipment, and experience to remove sick or dying trees without infecting nearby trees.

Completely topping a plum tree is a risky business. Cut too much, and you’ll kill your tree. That said, you do need to trim the top of your tree to encourage bushy growth, maintain your tree’s vase shape, and limit size.

A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.

The felling notch you make before you make the final cut will determine which way the tree will fall. The cut will be in a wedge or triangle, and the tree will fall from the highest point of the triangle. You can use this, as well as the process described above, to estimate where a tree will fall.

Pruning can impact cold hardiness—but it’s less about the exact temperature and more about temperature variation. Generally, you don’t want to prune trees when there’s a risk of temperatures suddenly dropping from 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit to 0 degrees Fahrenheit or below. A tree is most sensitive until 48 hours after it’s pruned.

You can shape a cherry tree by trimming vertical branches, dense branches, and intersecting branches. Your personal aesthetic comes into play, as well. If you want to simply thin and shape the tree, you can get away with trimming the aforementioned parts of your cherry tree. If you want to shorten branches, however, consider thinning cuts, which alter the length of the branches while encouraging light penetration, new buds and shoots, and a structurally-sound shape.
