"Initially, I was loathe to install a home security system, but there's enough low-level petty crime in my neighborhood to make me change my mind. You can buy systems and install them yourself, but I am not a DIY-er. Omniguard handles all the install and they're a local company. Plus I had them swap out some of our smoke detectors that always go off when we're cooking. These may also go off, but at least I can "hush" them with the control panel instead of standing on a chair trying to reach the hush button. Monthly cost is $49/mo. So far so good. I have set it off a few times by accident (opening a door after I armed the system), but it's easily disarmed. Also, these systems are mostly wireless now, so installation is less intrusive.

"It was easy. No one came to my house. I answered their questions. Those answers provided them with what they needed to send me a DIY system to arm my home. Everything was explained and all seemed simple until I got the kit. Nothing was wrong with the kit, however, I was nervous that I would not line up door and window sensors correctly.
