"I needed a small job done on short notice, Charles called back immediately, made an estimate that he stuck to, and scheduled promptly to get there. Drywall involves several days and several crews and each showed up on time, on schedule, and were good to deal with. They have a hand texturing process which leaves an interesting finish. They were very careful to leave the work place clean both in the room that they worked and outside. I would hire CB Drywall again any time."

"Marc and Kimberly are MOST AWESOME! Perfect attention to detail. I had a disastrous flood in my home due to a malfunctioning appliance. Sheetrock had to be removed to dry out the damage. When Marc and Kimberly were done, it was like it never happened! And MOST importantly, they love my little dog. Stop goofing around shopping for bids. THIS company is the place to go for EXCELLENT customer service in every aspect."

"Brandon & Cory did a fantastic job of putting our poor flood-damaged apartment back together. They repaired torn out drywall, re-anchored cabinets, installed new carpeting and laminate flooring and overall left our apartment looking beautiful again. They were fast, professional, and do beautiful work. Cannot recommend highly enough."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

You should leave a gap between drywall sheets because they naturally expand and contract along with the building framing as temperature and humidity change. Most pro drywall installers leave a gap of about ⅛ inch between drywall sheets, allowing the sheets to expand, contract, and shift without cracking or becoming damaged. If you don’t leave enough gaps between slabs, the edges will press against each other when they expand, and the pressure can cause visible cracks.

Whether a drywall anchor can be reused depends on its material, type, and the method of removal. Plastic anchors, including expansion and self-drilling types, are generally designed for single use as they tend to break or deform upon removal. Metal anchors, such as toggle bolts, are more durable and may be reusable if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle piece can fall into the wall cavity when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged during removal, for instance by having its head cut off, it cannot be reused regardless of the material.

Some textures are easier than others to DIY, but the short answer is yes, you can absolutely texture walls yourself. You’ll need certain materials, like a trowel or paint sprayer, but the most important things you’ll need are patience and time. DIYing wall texture can save money and be a fun, messy project, but homeowners need to know that adding texture to a wall isn’t a quick project.

Choose a drill bit that is the size of the screws of the anchors you will use. You aren’t drilling through metal or concrete—hopefully—so any standard twist, wooden or all-purpose drill bit will work fine. It’s also important to have a screwdriver capable of drilling through the drywall and into the stud. The good news is most available drills, even the older ones, can do this with no issue.

If you already have plaster walls and ceilings, adding new plaster costs $2 to $10 per square foot. For an average-sized room, that would come out to $1,200 to $10,000. However, the cost to replace plaster with drywall is higher—running between $720 and $1,250 for a 10-by-8-foot wall or ceiling (not including drywall finishing).
