"Gerardo and the G’s Concrete Crew did a great job on our concrete project. We extended the driveway from parking for two cars to three and added an “RV Pad”. On top of that the crew corrected a front door step and a French Drain that were not up to code. G and his team were easy to work with from planning to prep to completion! They were both polite and professional. They cleaned up after themselves. Pricing was reasonable! They get a 100% A+ from me! I would use and recommend them to friends and family or anyone looking to do a concrete project. "

Here at Vulcan Design & Construction, Inc. we believe in using our business as a tool to inspire and implement solutions to environmental concerns and to supporting our Veterans.

"It took forever to start. We were already upset with the company even before work started but we couldn?t back out. Their vehicles repeatedly blocking neighbors, material delivery blocking very important access to our garage, design change to stairway suggested by their designer is a constant headache. The deck wasn?t the right size. Project manager rarely supervised work and was repeatedly done incorrectly. They even had to tear off the surface and start over a couple times. They used wood that was already splintered. They kept adding money to the final total and expected payment immediately but when they owed us they had no record of the proper calculations. The backyard was a muddy mess because they started during the rainy season even though that?s when the project should?ve been finished according to their timeline. We signed the contract in May. Unhappy with the current state. The permit is still open and they ignore contact from the city. "

Concrete Driveways questions, answered by experts

DIY pouring is feasible but requires expertise in leveling and finishing to ensure structural integrity and aesthetic quality.

In most cases, yes, masons can build concrete forms and pour concrete for a variety of home improvement projects, including foundation pouring. Some masons may prefer to focus on more aesthetic and artistic masonry work, like building retaining walls, crafting custom fireplaces, tiling, or installing stucco siding, but most also have experience pouring concrete. You can always ask your masonry contractor if they also handle poured concrete projects.

Sidewalks are concrete, not cement. Cement is merely an ingredient of concrete. To pour a sidewalk, driveway, or patio, you need to form the right mixture of concrete using cement, aggregates, and water. Pouring concrete requires special tools such as a concrete mixer, compactor, screeds, and floats. Unless you're pouring a small area, it's best to hire a concrete pro for a sidewalk or driveway project.

Poured concrete should be set and hard to the touch within 24 to 48 hours, although it depends on the humidity in the air, the thickness of the concrete, and the type of concrete. It’s best to leave concrete to set for three days before exposing to foot traffic or stress. Concrete takes between 20 and 30 days to cure and reach its peak strength, so for foundations and retaining walls, plan to wait about a month before placing any load on your concrete.

Ideally, your concrete should set slightly above ground at an angle sloping away from the fence post. This will add extra support and allow water to run away from the wood fence post. Keeping water out will help prevent wood rot. Additionally, you can add soil on top of the concrete for a seamless finish.
