"From the first visit to my home from Sean for an estimate, to the crew that arrived to do the project I was impressed. Everyone was extremely professional. The crew arrived on time, the crew leader introduced me to the rest of the crew and explained how they would proceed with the project. They protected the work spaces with plastic from my garage to the crawl space opening in side my closet. They went to work and kept me informed about the progress. The whole crew worked very efficiently and got the project done in one day. They left work area spotless when they were done. I would highly recommend this company for any waterproofing project!!"

"Very tImely response to our request for assistance with cutting and removal of tall grass and weeds on our property; approximately one acre. The work was not easy, and the day was hot! Despite the conditions, the work was completed and concerns about possible fire had been reduced. We are confident in recommending Rim Rock for future projects!"

Austin takes pride in his work, quickly addressing any request for adjustments or changes with professionalism and care. He’s highly responsive, communicates clearly, and consistently goes above and beyond to exceed expectations. "What a great find CO Excavation was! Bill and his crew were professional and friendly. They showed up on time with all the right equipment, worked diligently and quickly, did a great job, and priced their work reasonably. They removed some large pine trees, moved/placed large boulders, excavated a circle driveway, built quite a few large berms, sculpted a swale, installed drainage, and leveled our yard for landscaping."

"My wife and I are very happy with the interlocking paver patio that Solo Sierra Construction installed at our home. Arturo communicated timelines well before and during the project and his crew worked incredibly fast and were super friendly. Beyond that, Arturo had some great ideas for laying out the space that we had not considered and are happy we implemented."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Most of the time, you don’t need to seal brickwork and can save that money for another area of home improvement. But if your brick is cracking or you live in an area with a lot of excess moisture (either in terms of rain or freezes), sealing can extend the lifetime of your home. But, make sure you use a breathable sealant, like siloxane, to allow the moisture to evaporate on its own.

You can use normal bricks as cladding for a concrete or clay pizza oven or as a base underneath one. Fire bricks or solid clay bricks are necessary for an outdoor pizza oven’s floor, and you can use clay bricks for the rest of the oven.

Yes, you can limewash surfaces other than brick. Plaster, stone, stucco, and concrete can all also be limewashed. Any porous surface that will absorb the wash is a good candidate for limewash, although it won’t help much with waterproofing. If you choose to limewash over paint, you’ll need to prep before applying it to avoid a powdery, chalky finish. Shiny surfaces like metal or glass can’t absorb limewash, so it’s not suited for these.

Yes, it is usually possible to repair a damaged brick mailbox. A professional brick mason or masonry contractor can perform the repairs. They can assess the damage, provide an estimate, and help you determine if the repair is worthwhile based on the mailbox's value and the extent of the damage. The repair process may involve sourcing replacement bricks and mortar. Damaged bricks can be cut out and replaced, or the mortar joints can be cut out and retucked. It's important to note that the new mortar may differ in color from the original. If the mailbox insert itself is damaged, it can typically be cut out and replaced as well. If your brick mailbox has been completely destroyed, you should check with your local building code enforcement office before rebuilding, as some areas do not allow brick mailboxes due to the potential hazard they pose to drivers.

Yes, brick can breathe through limewash. Limewash is a breathable coating made from natural lime and water, allowing moisture to pass through while providing a protective layer. Unlike synthetic paints or sealants, which can trap moisture within the brick and lead to issues like mold, limewash allows the brick to maintain its natural breathability. This characteristic makes limewash an ideal choice for historic structures where preserving the integrity of the brick is essential.
