We hired John Wood of JAW Construction to transform a building shell originally intended to be a shop for building trusses into a small house (officially an auxiliary dwelling unit or ADU) and are thrilled we found him. The job required skills that extended beyond new construction to include the insight, skill and craftsmanship of a highly experienced remodeling expert. He possessed these in spades. Beyond his own expertise, he has assembled a set of sub-contractors that are excellent craftsmen in their own areas of expertise. The job was doubly challenging given that for much of the construction period we were out of state getting our old home ready for sale. This also meant that an extra element of trust was involved. John sent us pictures of the progress, so that we could monitor from a distance. In addition, he was able to identify and rectify several flaws in our design. As with any large construction/remodeling project, there were some unexpected expenses that came up, but John worked with us to help limit cost overruns, sometimes foregoing profits. He was also always up front about the costs of the various components. Our new home is gorgeous and reflects his sharp eye for detail. We couldn’t be happier. "Israel and his team were great to work with and I am really happy with both of the projects they competed for me. They replaced an old, failing retaining wall with a beautiful stone retaining wall with a French drain behind it. I showed Israel pictures of what I wanted it to look like and his team did an amazing job making my vision a reality. They were careful with my existing plants and landscaping and went above and beyond by moving and repotting a shrub that I was unable to move by myself before the work began. They also replaced parts of my backyard that had been removed by neighbors and built a beautiful new fence and gate out of cedar. "Had a sprinkler system installed on about 1/3 of an acre in the spring of 2022 with a 3 year guarantee. They were prompt about coming out, giving an estimate and taking a payment. Poor communication following the install regarding operation. Problems with water reaching all areas of the grass were downplayed. After repeatedly not answering texts or phone messages I was berated by Mr. Hawk for being "Mr. Difficult". I ended up buying and changing 3 sprinkler heads so that water would reach everywhere and eliminate brown spots. Terrible customer service !"

"We recently expanded a deck, added a patio cover, and are putting a hot tub underneath this second floor deck. There was a concrete patio below the existing deck and we wanted to match that, w/ reinforcement for a hot tub. We got a couple bids for the job. Danny was the estimator that came out for Forest and he seemed knowledgeable and was punctual and professional. It was not the cheapest bid, but the company is much more well established than a couple others we consulted so I put more trust in their work. Rigo is the guy we needed to work with on scheduling etc. for concrete work. This was a little rocky at first, but that had a lot to do with us needing to postpone the start till our deck was done, but then also work around a vacation we'd be taking, and make sure the concrete had enough time to cure before our hot tub is dropped. Despite a slight language barrier, we worked it out and even managed to get it done ahead of when we originally scheduled it. Punctuality is impressive with these guys. For 3 days they were waiting outside our house to start at 7:30am precisely. They had to remove a portion of fence and work around some foliage for access. They ended up encountering an unexpected drainage tube of some kind while digging and made sure to create an access point for us if it's ever needed in the future. The concrete looks great and matches our old patio so well, it's hard to tell they weren't poured together. Danny and I (and later Rigo) discussed treating the old concrete to help the matching. At the end of the work they did a great job of cleaning up the area and returning everything to normal. Rigo also helped us by showing us how to remove the fence portion for when our hot tub is delivered and left the top cap off because he said we'd really struggle to get it off if they put it back. I'm happy with the work, communication, and cleanup and trust if there are any problems I will be able to get them resolved. If we have further landscape needs in the future I will def be calling Forest for a bid."
