"Had a wonderful experience the one I went on the app I put in my information and about 5 minutes later I got a phone call from CNR landscaping they did a wonderful job they went above and beyond reasonable prices to stay for several hours we are so happy to get over front yard done my husband just was diagnosed with cancer so I've been really hard to get out there and get everything done and trying to keep up with everything going on. "Caleb is a hard worker and an efficient worker. He mowed my front and back yards and did weed eating . He blew off the dried grass and put it in the proper receptacle as well as blew the dust and debris from the front and back porch. All this was completed in about an hour and a half. I do not hesitate to recommend Caleb Haney of Cornerstone landscape for any job he seeks."

"I called three companies for an estimate and Luis was the first to respond and stood by the estimate. His work was excellent. He pulled out the plants that weren't doing well as I requested, trimmed and shaped all of the rest of the bushes, pulled weeds and sprayed the yard for weeds, he checked the drip system and took all the debris away when he was through. He answered all of my questions and did whatever I asked him to do. What wonderful service and the yards look beautiful. I highly recommend him."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Determining how many boulders you’ll need for your landscaping project depends on the area you need to cover and how big each boulder is. First, you’ll need to determine how big of an area you want covered, then divide that by the base surface area of the boulders. A landscape professional can help you determine how many boulders will be right for your project.

The best landscaping for a septic drain field is shallow-rooted grass or native vegetation that helps prevent soil erosion while allowing water to evaporate efficiently. Avoid planting trees, shrubs, or deep-rooted plants near the drain field because the roots can infiltrate pipes and cause blockages. Using mulch or gravel sparingly can also help retain moisture and protect the system without restricting airflow.

Buying plants from a nursery is one thing, but ensuring that they are properly planted is another. While you might not need to hire a landscaper for every plant that you buy from a nursery, it’s a great idea to have their expertise and experience to plant larger items, like burlapped trees or specialty plants like rose bushes. Even better, before making a trip to a nursery to buy new plants, consult a local landscaper to test your soil for pH levels, soil texture, and phosphorus and potassium levels to help determine the best plants for your area.

As much as you might try to keep a healthy, nutrient-rich lawn, you still may notice signs of St. Augustine decline (SAD)—a viral disease that discolors your grass blades. St. Augustine decline looks like:

  • Discoloration in the leaves (chlorosis)—leaves appear yellow and splotchy

  • Decline in growth

  • Leaves turn black within 3 years

  • Grass appears less vibrant

  • Grass begins to thin

  • Root rot

  • Grass takes longer to recover

There are two main times of year to apply mulch: mid to late spring and late fall. Spreading mulch in mid to late spring helps protect new seedlings as the soil warms up. It's best to wait until temperatures are steady, as mulching too early in the spring can slow down the soil's warming process and hinder plant growth. Fall mulching is also beneficial, as it insulates the soil and helps regulate its temperature when the first frosts arrive.
