"I had three tall cypress shrubs to remove after recommendation of the fire dept, it was a very hot day, Bonilla came and expediently removed the plants without hesitation, cleaned up, and was very professional in completing the job on time and on budget. I will cheerfully hire them again for my next yard project."

"Caleb and his 12 year old son Gabriel were incredibly hard workers! My brother in law’s yard had not been taken care of for over a year other than the yard mowed a couple months ago! The hedge needed trimmed back several feet, lots of black berries removed, and much wisteria removed! The deck, fence, and gazebo were covered with a huge amount of wisteria and Caleb and Gabriel removed it all in three hours! I highly recommend this father son team! Caleb’s family are good Christians and all the kids are home schooled. His company is Cornerstone Outdoor Maintenance, 541-650-7400! Please give them a try whether it’s one time or monthly maintenance! You will not be disappointed! Larry Binney"

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

If the lead paint is in a place that is not easily disturbed and is not flaking or deteriorating, you do not necessarily need to remove it. Lead is toxic when dust particles or flakes from peeling lead paint are ingested. If people are not in the area with the lead paint, it may be safe to leave it in place. You still may want to consider encapsulation with a paint formulated for covering lead-based paint, just for an added layer of protection.

Disposing of old paint, bleach, oil, and fertilizer should be handled by a company that specializes in this kind of waste. Many private junk removal companies do not dispose of these items. Because these materials are hazardous to the environment and dangerous to handle or dispose of improperly, you should confirm with your local municipality about places to take hazardous materials for safe disposal.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), hazardous waste is generally classified into four main categories:

1. Characteristic Wastes: These exhibit at least one of four hazardous traits: ignitability (flammable, like gasoline), corrosivity (can rust or decompose materials, like car batteries), reactivity (unstable and can explode, like aerosol cans), or toxicity (harmful when ingested, like lead-based paint).

2. Listed Wastes: These are specific wastes from manufacturing and industrial processes that the EPA has officially designated as hazardous. They include byproducts from processes that use solvents, pesticides, and other chemicals.

3. Universal Wastes: These are commonly generated hazardous items that are subject to streamlined regulations. Examples include batteries, pesticides, mercury-containing equipment (e.g., bulbs), and some lamps.

4. Mixed Wastes: This category includes waste that contains both hazardous and radioactive components, making it subject to regulation by both the EPA and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Unfortunately, lead dust does not look different from any other type of dust. You cannot detect it with the naked eye. To determine if you have lead dust in your home, you will need to hire a local company to take a sample from the paint and test it for you in a lab.

No. Standard homeowners insurance does not cover any kind of lead remediation, focusing instead on sudden, unpreventable events like fires and theft. Many insurance companies will specifically exclude lead paint removal, since it tends to be an expensive and unavoidable project. The exception is if the lead surface is damaged during a covered event (like a flood) and homeowners insurance pays its replacement.
