With over 20 years of experience on average, our highly trained technicians can install your new door, troubleshoot any issue with your existing door, and provide ongoing maintenance to ensure proper operation. We pride ourselves in customer service after the sale and want to make sure that you are delighted with the product and service you receive from Valley Overhead Door.

"Our garage door opener broke on 7/29. I called the company that did the initial installation and a subsequent repair. The offered me an 8/19 appointment. Began calling others on Angie's List without success (out of area, closed, etc.). Five or six calls in I reached Valley Overhead Door. They offered me a 7/31 appointment and a reasonable estimate. I accepted. On 7/31 they arrived on time, completed the work professionally, and charged me less than the estimate. They replaced 2 springs and the spring tube, rewound the cables, and straightened the frame."

Garage Doors questions, answered by experts

Garage doors generally last between 15 to 30 years, depending on many factors. Your location plays an essential role in your garage door’s lifespan—doors exposed to harsh elements like heavy rain or intense heat might not last as long as those installed in a milder climate. How often you use your garage door also factors into its overall lifespan. Generally, standard garage door springs can withstand 20,000 cycles, whereas tension springs typically last between 5,000 and 10,000.

While the ideal temperature for your garage is partially based on your preferences for a comfortable garage space, you'll still want to maintain a temperature between 40 degrees and 68 degrees Fahrenheit to protect your belongings and vehicles. If you are unable to maintain temperatures that fall within this range, then you may want to consider installing a heater in your garage to prevent temperatures from dropping below 40 degrees.

A garage ceiling needs a vapor barrier if it’s a heated garage or if you’re installing insulation in the ceiling. Without a vapor barrier, you risk moisture issues and mold growth. If you have an unheated garage and don’t plan on installing insulation that could get wet and harbor mold, the ceiling doesn't need a vapor barrier.

The cost to paint a garage door is usually $1 to $4 per square foot, which translates to around $120 to $500 for the average two-car garage door. This relatively low-cost painting project can greatly impact your home’s look and curb appeal, and you can save a good deal of money by doing it yourself.

If you open your garage manually, you don’t need sensors. If you have an automatic garage door opener, sensors are required by law. The federal law UL 325 mandates that all residential garage door openers in the U.S. must include sensors. Designed to prevent accidents and reduce the risk of entrapment, the sensors should be able to reverse the motion of the garage door within two seconds of detecting an obstruction. The sensors are there to keep you, your family, and your belongings safe from a door that might otherwise come down too hard or too fast.
