"Zach did a wonderful job on our bathroom remodel. He was very reasonably priced, showed up on time every day and always kept us informed. We were very happy with his work and we are already planning our next remodel with him."

Small jobs welcome

We are a small residential general contractor licensed in Oregon offering a variety of carpentry services indoor+outdoor. \n\nOur professional background was largely in finish carpentry services working for well established companies in the industry: all door types, closet systems, railings, hardware and a variety of millwork ranging from baseboards, door casings, window casings, handrails, crown molding, etc. If it was made from wood and is inside your home, we did it.\n\nWe do outdoor work as well ranging from fences, decks, exterior doors/trim, etc.\n\nOur time in the trades taught us there is a right way and a quick way to do things and the RIGHT WAY is what we are most passionate about. We're motivated by providing people with a high quality of work because its what we would want if the roles were reversed!\n\nWe look forward to helping improve your space in whatever way we can with the skills we've acquired in our journey as tradesman and we thank you for your consideration.

"We had Z&H do a move-in deep clean at our new home and I couldn't believe how amazing it turns out. They were beyond thorough, cleaning individual blinds, inside drawers and cabinets and truly didn't miss a spot. They were also great about communication when the cleaning was taking longer than expected. Would definitely hire them again."

"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"Thunder Movers showed up early, packed up my antique furniture carefully, and moved my household belongings from my house into a storage unit. They were reasonably priced, quick and careful. They were also patient with the fact that I had underestimated by half the amount of stuff I had! I would definitely recommend them to a friend.

"He just came and gave an estimate.  The $299 Big Deal coupon will be included in the work that he would be doing.  The estimate amount was around $5000 to do all areas that we need done.  If we use them, we will probably use them for the upstairs and not for downstairs.  We have a living area downstairs that needs to be re-tiled and we have two bedrooms upstairs that need to be re-tiled including the closets.  There is also a bathroom and another closet that needs to be re-tiled.  He was really professional when he was here.  Our problem was getting him to return our phone calls."

Closets questions, answered by experts

How many days it takes to remodel a closet will also depend on the scale of the project. Small changes like installing a prefab kit will eat up an afternoon and no more, while a total renovation could require several days to a week. If you’re planning for the latter, plan to secure other sleeping arrangements while construction is ongoing.

Closet design services include help designing and laying out your closet for maximum utility, visual appeal, and return on investment. Many closet designers can also include the carpentry required to construct your custom closet. You should speak with your designer beforehand to determine what services are included in the estimate, and prepare to lay out additional funds for materials or labor as needed.

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.

Tiny house living requires creative solutions to the one biggest issue: space. Many people in tiny houses find life most manageable if they practice minimalism. Eliminating excess items and clutter makes the living space feel bigger, which can be a significant mood booster. It can also be challenging to get utilities arranged for a tiny house, and building and zoning codes can and often do present unique challenges to overcome.

You can design your own closet, but it’s usually better to hire a professional to do the work for you. Not only will you get years of design experience to guide you toward the right layout and material choices, but you’ll also only pay slightly more hiring a professional than you would creating your own plans and hiring a carpenter. A high-quality closet designer can provide insight into how to lay out your closet, and they may be able to find you a good deal on the carpentry or complete the work using an affordable, in-house team.
