"Had a retaining wall done? Eric was great in keeping me informed of all steps up to the very end and was easy to work with. His team did an outstanding job and the wall looks great. It is nice to have a company that shows pride in its work and cares about the customer. I highly recommend them."

"Excellent experience. Quick reply to the quote request and was available two days later to do the job. Josh completely replaced a rotting exterior pillar and recreated its detailed decorative trim work perfectly. Fast, impressive, quality work. I'd highly recommend his services."

"Paul Derosia of Triple D is a high integrity individual. He is polite, soft spoken, and knowledgeable. He showed up on time, every day, and took painstaking care to do the siding and painting job as if it was his own home. The siding installation, the window trim, the caulking, and the painting were all done professionally. Paul doesn't just bid a job, and then hand off the work. On any given day, Paul could be seen on a ladder or the scaffolding, and even with a paint brush in hand. I don't typically provide public reviews of contractors, but, I was impressed with Paul, his skills, integrity, and work ethic. I am extremely pleased with how our home looks, and I have the confidence that I won't have to deal with the exterior of our home for a long time to come! Gary Mallory Gresham, Oregon"

"I hired JJM construction to repair my large deck from a recommendation of a friend of mine who had met him at church. Jared provided me with a bid and recommendations on how he would repair my deck and preserve portions of the existing deck. His bid was very reasonable, and he also included a couple other jobs that I needed to have done at the same time. When Jared and Jeremy came out to do the work, they had the deck repair done within three days. They did an outstanding job. I feel as though I have a brand new deck. The workmanship was very meticulous and they were very thoughtful of my property and left it cleaner than what they started with. I would definitely hire Jared and his company again should I have a need for any other work. I will say that I have been screwed over by other general contractors in the past on work on my house, but this time I think I found the diamond of contractors. Clarification I will be doing the painting and staining myself."

"Matthew Bruce exceeded our expectations. Our 92-year-old dad fell while using the bathroom and injured himself. We needed an immediate response to make the bathroom safe. Matthew responded to my request very quickly. He asked questions about the situation that showed he had the expertise we needed. He came to the house within a day of agreeing to perform the work and completed the most urgent task that day. He needed other tools to complete the installation of the grab bar drilled into the shower tiles, so he had to return at a later time. He communicated clearly when he could return and completed the task. Additionally, he cleaned up after his work and was pleasant to workMatthew Bruce exceeded our expectations. "Hashtag is extremely capable, quality driven and customer focused. Even trending above and beyond in their work style and customer engagement. The husband wife duo work magnificently together and they truly care about their customers and listening to their needs. The only reason I am giving the Value for the Money a 3.5 Stars is because they are more on the expensive side and that is simply because of the cost of materials being exorbitant. Not their fault, AT ALL. While we had a few less expensive quotes, Beki and Josh have always provided the better attention, stronger relationship and focused demeanor you want when building a contract with a company such as theirs. They invest in their customers and have an old school work ethic hard to find in today's hustle and bustle world. We truly appreciate them and look forward to many more projects with Hashtag! We recommend them highly!"

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

The lifespan of a barn is typically 40 to 60 years, but with skillful construction and proper maintenance, it can last up to 100 years. The actual lifespan depends on several factors, including the barn type, materials, usage, and climate. For example, the posts of a pole barn should last 50 years or longer, but if the structure is used for livestock in a rainy climate, it may rot within the first decade. Custom designs with high-end materials tend to last the longest. To get the best estimate for your barn's lifespan, you should consider its material type and intended use.

The timeline to build your barn will depend on the barn type and the company you hire. A pole barn may take six weeks or so, while a traditionally framed or steel-framed barn can take four months or longer. Building a barndominium takes the longest because you are essentially building a new home. You can expect barndominiums to take six months or longer to build.

Choose a barn door with an extra two to three inches on either side of the frame. The width of the barn door will depend on the type and placement of your track, but in most cases, an additional inch or two will do the trick.

The most common slope, or roof pitch, for a shed is 4:12 or four inches of height for every horizontal foot. For areas that experience heavy snow loads, a steeper roof of 6:12 or 9:12 is best.

Rather than using a common two-by-four piece of wood for a rafter, you probably will use two-by-six, two-by-eight, two-by-ten, or even two-by-twelve boards. Wider lumber is typically a better choice in a larger building as it provides more sturdiness. Some installers may use wider lumber for rafters near the edges of the roof, where the greatest stress occurs, and save money with narrower lumber toward the middle.
