"JNP Construction and Rick Bradshaw are my go to contractors for all our projects. This has included a fully remodeled master bath, Guest bath and kitchen. He handles each project challenge with his customary extreme knowledge and coordination with all subs and the county. Every new construction related problem, Rick is my first call."

"We benefited from Todd & crewâ s many years of knowledge. Really pays to have someone seasoned when doing a remodel as troubleshooting surprises are bound to happen. Sub contractors were A+. It was Toddâ s highest priority that we were satisfied. Cannot wait to work with them again."

"Carl and crew came out the day after I called to do an estimate and the job was done to our satisfaction within a few days after that. In Southern Oregon it can be very difficult to get quality work done in a short amount of time. Carl was on it and made sure we were completely happy with the job. I would definitely hire him again."

"The owner and one of his plumbers came to the house the day after I talked with them. They looked at the job (the installation of a chinese made walk in tub) and gave me a very reasonable price quote. They came to my house two days later which was the earliest date I could be available.. They were extremely knowledgeable and very competent. They performed a very difficult installation admirably. I would recommend this company to anyone."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

The cost to convert a carport into a garage averages about $22,000, ranging from about $15,000 and $55,000. Additional cost factors to consider include size, time of year, and how much of the carport you can reuse. Other cost factors include the kinds and amounts of materials used, such as:

  • Add insulation: $1 per square foot

  • Add drywall: $1–$3 per square foot

  • Add window: $450–$2,000 per window

  • Add outlets: $75–$500

  • Add garage door: $250–$11,200

  • Enclose framing: $5–$13 per square foot

  • Replace roofing: $1,000–$2,000

Bump-out additions can extend anywhere from 2 to 15 feet from an existing room. The right size will depend on how you plan to use the new space. For a cantilever bump-out, which doesn't require additional foundation support, the limit is typically 24 inches (2 feet). If a footing and foundation are part of the project, a bump-out can be much larger, even encompassing a whole room. It's also important to remember that many residential properties have limits on the total house size relative to the lot size.

When deciding if you should use 2x6 or 2x8 deck joists, consider the size of the deck, joist spacing, and materials. Larger decks, larger-spaced joists, and weaker wood all require more support, meaning they need larger joists. For example, 2x8 redwood joists spaced 16 inches apart can only safely span up to 10 feet and 7 inches. On the other hand, 2x10 southern pine joists spaced 12 inches apart can be as big as 16 feet and 2 inches. If you aren’t sure what size joist is best for your project, speak with your deck builder.

Installing a tongue-and-groove wall requires similar techniques to those associated with installing shiplap. However, because of the precision necessary to make each board fit perfectly and the increased material prices, the cost is higher than that of shiplap installations. Expect to spend between $2 and $6 more per square foot for tongue-and-groove walls versus shiplap ones.

Yes, professional installations include reinforced corner posts to ensure durability.
