When selecting a pool heater, it’s important to think not just about the cost of the unit itself but also about how much it costs to run. Expect to pay about $100 per month to run a heat pump pool heater. A natural gas heater will cost twice that amount, while an electric pool heater costs about $250 a month.

When installing an outdoor outlet, it's important to proceed with caution. Unless you have the necessary training and licensure, it's not recommended to attempt this DIY. First, choose a suitable location. Make sure that the area can accommodate the outlet without overloading the circuit. You'll also need to ensure that your project complies with building codes. Next, turn off the power to the circuit, then install and wire the outlet according to the manufacturer's instructions. Once the outlet is in place, test it. Lastly, be sure to use a cover that will protect it from moisture and other weather-related damage.

The most common type of electrical outlet is a 3-prong outlet, which has two flat blades (one is wider than the other) and a round grounding pin. Older homes typically have 2-prong outlets that aren’t as safe as more modern options and are generally not up to current electrical codes.  Other outlets you can find in your home include 20A, 125 volt varieties for larger appliances like refrigerators or washing machines. 

There are also GFCI outlets, which protect against electrical shock in wet areas, such as bathrooms and kitchens, and arc fault circuit interrupter (AFCI) outlets, which protect against electrical fires caused by arcing.

The main reason outlets become loose is because the contact points have started to wear down after years of use. Occasionally, poor wiring can cause heat or sparks that can damage the outlet and cause it to become loose. Either way, if your plugs slide out after being inserted into the outlet, it’s time to replace it.
