Customers say: Quick response

"I had a swimming pool removed. It was hard to find someone to give me a quote let alone actually work. Finally found Lanterman Enterprises on a Saturday. Had a quote on Sunday and the work was done and the yard looked beautiful by the next Saturday. Bill is a great guy to work with and very responsive."

"Overall very good results. Showed up when promised and hard worker. One negative - he spilled oil on my new driveway and didnâ t clean it up, I did. Left oil stain, otherwise good work."

"Rob and his crew did some landscaping planting shrubs,, installing blocks and mulch around flower beds. The price was reasonable and work done efficiently. We also had a small tree that needed to be removed and it also was handled in a timely manner at a reasonable cost."

"I am so impressed with the millennial Zane who removed 30ft tree and removed everything by himself. Said he had been doing it since he was 15 and his professionalism showed. So strong we worried about him lifting alone but he did it safely in less than two hours. Would definitely hire again. Thank you"

"We had Chris trim bushes in our front and back yard. He did a great job for a reasonable price. Worked hard at doing as I asked w/o any complaints. I did not fill out cost as I lost his information and it took quite a while to find him online again. Do not remember the amount."

"Stephen and his crew did a great job rebuilding my deck. It was a big job due to its size, but they built a very solid deck and did everything I wanted. He also made sure some damage around my house due to water problems got fixed. I have recommended him to several friends."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

Yes, trenchers can go through gravel. Gravel is made up of smaller, softer rocks that certain trenchers are able to cut through. Just be sure to use a rock wheel trencher or chain trencher, both of which are made to cut through rocky landscapes and gravel pathways without dulling the teeth or chain.

Downspouts should be buried at least 5 to 10 feet away from your foundation. This can vary depending on your local building codes, soil type, and property slope. The main goal is to ensure water is directed away from your foundation.

The digging depth will depend on the size of the trencher you use. Even smaller units can dig up to 4 feet deep, which is plenty for a DIY job. However, much larger trenchers can reach a depth of 18 feet and are better used by a team of pro contractors, not a single DIYer. As with all home improvement projects, use the right tool for the job and proceed with caution.

If you’re planning to dig on your property, you’ll need to check for underground utility lines. Call the national call-before-you-dig 811 number. Once connected to an operator, you can schedule a site visit to mark underground lines. This way, you won’t accidentally dig into pipes and can cause major (read: costly) issues.

Slab foundations are more affordable than crawl spaces because they require minimal excavation, as the slab sits directly on the ground or on footers that only sink a few feet into the ground. Crawl spaces require excavation of the entire footprint of the home to several feet below the surface. Not only does that mean higher labor costs, but more materials are necessary for the concrete foundation walls.
