"Woody and his Son from Energized Electric did an awesome job. They listened to what I wanted and didn't try to oversell or push me to do upgrades like other companies wanted. They also didn't charge me a service fee to come and give me a free estimate like other companies. Woody would also give recommendations on lighting and man was he spot on. Everything turned out awesome and I would highly recommend to others."

"I estimate I have just under $100k in electronics and appliances in my house. We have significant lightning storms in my location. To NOT have lightning suppression installed is significant risk in my mind based on my location in New Jersey. RS LIGHTNING PROTECTION was responsive with a quick cost estimate and a reasonable price based on my research for installation. By the way...installation is part art, such as bends in cable are not more than 90 degrees. It's not just about running grounded cables. This installation in conjunction with surge protection on my electrical panel performed by my electrician and cable protection gives me significant piece of mind that all my appliances and electronics are protected from lightning and any potential surge generated by a near strike. Mr Richard Sherlock knows his subject. Highly recommended. Five stars."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Wilmington’s seasonal humidity and cold winters can impact outdoor electrical work, so plan for weather-resistant materials and GFCI outlets in exposed areas. In historic neighborhoods, older wiring may require upgrades to meet current code. Rural properties near Wilmington sometimes face limited electrical service, and contractor schedules can shift around local college events, so plan projects with these local factors in mind.

Helpful?

Before starting electrical projects in Wilmington, review your project scope and confirm if permits are required, then submit your application early to avoid processing delays. Schedule a consultation with a licensed electrician in Wilmington to assess your home’s wiring and discuss any service upgrades. Always call 811 before digging, and coordinate with local utility providers for any necessary service interruptions or meter relocations.

Helpful?

For a smooth electrical project in Wilmington, schedule work outside of peak spring and summer demand when possible. Notify neighbors about potential outages, and clear access to electrical panels, attics, or crawl spaces for your electrician. Order materials in advance to avoid rural delivery delays. Keep all permits and inspection records organized, and coordinate with inspectors to ensure compliance with the latest electrical codes.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Wilmington should begin with a professional electrical panel inspection, especially in homes built before 1980. Prioritize adding GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor spaces to meet safety standards. Consider hardwiring smoke detectors, checking for proper grounding, and upgrading outlets in high-use areas. Installing outdoor lighting and ceiling fans can also enhance comfort and efficiency in Wilmington’s changing climate.

Helpful?

Electrical upgrades in Wilmington homes can impact systems like HVAC, sump pumps, or security alarms, especially in older properties with shared circuits. Have a local electrician perform a load calculation and circuit mapping before starting work. This helps identify which appliances or systems might be disrupted, allowing you to plan for temporary outages and avoid unexpected interruptions during your electrical project.
