"They were excellent! They installed 4 skylights, One in each of my second floor bathrooms, and 2 in my kitchen. They were very business like, took me thru the process of installation and completed the install in a very good amount of time! I love my skylights!"

"Raul, Angie, and team were fantastic to work with. I contacted several companies via Angie's list to try to get my roof leak repaired same day. They were not the first company to get back to me and I had another consult scheduled but I ended up canceling and going with PDQ instead because they showed they cared about me as a client (Angie called me back to let me know that if the other roofer put up a tarp it would make it harder to identify and more costly to fix the problem). I instantly felt comfortable and trusted their guidance as roofing and repair are not my forte. They came out same day and the leak has stopped. I would hire again or recommend to anyone! Thank you, Angie and Raul!"

"The main drawback was that they did not call me ahead of time to let me know they were on their way. They showed up 45 minutes later than they said they would. The price was okay. They need to call the customer and let them know whats going on before they show up."

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Yes, reputable manufacturers typically provide warranties for their roof windows and skylights, and many installers also offer a labor warranty, although labor warranties often don’t last as long as the manufacturer’s warranty. A warranty from a skylight manufacturer is helpful in the event of leaks or other damage down the road on this type of home feature. The length of time and the terms of the warranty may vary, so it's important to review the details before making a purchase.

A skylight's ability to withstand hail depends on factors like material quality and thickness. Impact-resistant options, such as tempered or laminated glass, fare better against hail compared to standard glass. Proper installation and regular maintenance also contribute to their resilience. While smaller hailstones may not pose a significant threat, larger ones can cause damage. Consider skylight protection methods like covers or screens in hail-prone areas to enhance durability and minimize potential harm.

Yes, skylights can affect a home’s energy efficiency, either positively or negatively. Properly installed, energy-efficient skylights with Low-E coatings, double glazing, and UV-blocking glass can help regulate indoor temperatures and reduce heating and cooling costs. However, poorly insulated or older skylights can contribute to heat loss in winter and excess heat gain in summer, lowering overall energy efficiency.

Ceiling costs depend on many factors, such as the material used and size, but coffered ceilings are considered one of the more expensive ceiling options. If you want to install a coffered ceiling but have a limited budget, consider using plywood instead of hardwood—it costs $2–$4.50 per square foot, while hardwood can be as much as $20 per square foot.

Skylights increase natural light, improve ventilation, and enhance aesthetic appeal in rooms.
