"We had our failing patio in the back rebuilt and reconfigured while we were at it. It was maybe a little more challenging than doing a new patio, but all the issues were resolved and we are pleased with the results."

"I truly enjoyed having Gary work on our project and I plan to hire him in the next few months to do my kitchen remodel. What sets him apart from the rest is his integrity. When he tells you he will call or come over, he does it. His price is his price and all receipts are documented. The quality of his work is excellent!
I did wait over a month for Gary to work on my project, but he is well worth the wait. (Frankly, I take that as a good sign that he is busy because that means he is very good.) He contacted me twice during the waiting period to let me know how far out he was from my project and then called me the week before he planned to start it. I think we have all experienced the no call, no show folks in this industry and it was refreshing to finally have someone who cared about following up with his clients.

"We were relieved Star Home Service signed on for our porch repair needs after a storm blew over our 20-foot post and blocked our porch for 4 weeks. The repair matches the other post that was not blown over except that the screws used to rebuild and secure the post are not covered/hidden and painted to match the other post. So, now, we have to cover and paint over all the screw holes 20' into the air. Unbeknownst to us, however, they also fixed our gutter! That was a pleasant surprise and much appreciated. Communication was good. They were timely and repaired our porch in 1 day. They were also very clean and left no messes. Thank you for repairing our home."

"The entire process went incredibly well. I reached out to 5 of the highest-rated (per Angie's List) Owens Corning's Preferred Platinum Contractors. Jason (Bradford Xteriors' Owner) was the first to call me back and arrange a visit for a quote. (There were several I didn't hear back from at all.) Bradford Xteriors Inc. installed a new Owens Corning Flex shingles (hail-proof). The crew was already trained on the new product. The crew showed up on time, answered any questions I had and did a great job minimizing any mess during the project and cleaning the yard afterwards. During installation, Jason stopped in to make sure everything was progressing well. Afterwards, a quality assurance member came to survey the work done. Additionally, they replaced my gutters as well. Jason took care of working things out with my insurance company, as well. Overall, I was extremely pleased with their quality, care and the results!"

"We had such a wonderful experience with Brad.  The entire project took about 3 weeks, as Brad was doing all of the work by himself during 90+ degree heat.  He took such pride in his work and insisted on doing everything the correct way.  He is a perfectionist, which I love.  His wood-working is amazing, as are his design ideas and work ethic.  We are very fortunate to have found such a talented builder. "

"I highly recommend Stephen Arthur Concrete for any concrete repairs that you may be in need of. My dealings with Stephen were completely pleasant through the entire process. In my experience, this cannot always be said with contractors. I was impressed with Stephen’s prompt response when I first contacted him about the concrete repair that I needed done at my new home. He came soon after to look at the project and explain all that was happening with the problem. (The previous owners covered the problem up and left it to me to solve). Stephen also got me a quote quickly. I can’t emphasize how important this was to me as I was getting several quotes and other contractors just did not operate this promptly or efficiently. Stephen’s prices were completely fair for the work that had to be done. Even though it wasn’t a huge job it was still costly due to the nature of concrete work. I felt of all the bids that I received Stephen’s was the fairest and most relevant.(That does not mean it was either the least or most expensive.) I decided to hire Stephen for the repair but had to wait for it due to the weather and his availability. He stayed in contact with me and when a cancellation happened on his end, called me and got my project on his schedule earlier than anticipated. I so appreciated that! And the work…. Excellent! I was so happy with the finished product but also the entire way along in the process. It went exactly as Stephen had described to me. It took the course of a week to do but each day that the crew worked on the project they cleaned up thoroughly after. My new front porch looks so good and Stephen Arthur Concrete kept it within the design integrity of the house. He also had to repair and replace ironwork on the porch and made it so much better than it was before. I can’t recommend Stephen and his crew enough for all of your concrete needs."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

The maximum size of a tiny home you can move depends on your state transportation guidelines, but the rule of thumb is a maximum of 400 square feet. However, as long as it falls within the local limits for traveling on public roadways, you should be good to hit the road.

Any type of construction that damages a tree’s roots via soil compaction can be dangerous, and is one of the primary causes of mature tree death in residential areas. Simply putting lots of weight on the ground around the tree, like construction supplies, trailers, and equipment, can kill roots near the surface. Of course, installing new foundations, patios, or utility lines can cut through nearby tree roots. Accidentally striking a tree with equipment or supplies is rarely a problem, but can cause damage of its own, too.

Your foundation contractor will first need to remove the topsoil and any vegetation within 4 feet of the area around the barn. They’ll need to ensure they have clear access to the site to begin excavation, after which they can begin construction.

Your chicken coop needs to be off the ground to protect your chickens and avoid problems brought on by flooding, mud, and moisture. If you can't locate a high area to build the coop, you should build an elevated coop to ensure it stays dry.

This answer varies based on where you are, but most states require that all homes are greater than 320 square feet. Remember that four walls are not the only requirements—windows, closet space, minimal ceiling heights, and indoor air quality are also factors. Each state and municipality differs, though, and as some don’t consider tiny homes permanent shelters, you’ll need to check to ensure you aren’t violating any local or state laws with your build.
