"This is probably the 5th time I've hired BK Hauling in the past ten years. It's been a couple years since the last time so I was just delighted they're still around. I called LATE last night and left a voicemail, and he was at my house before 9AM. This is the biggest hauling job I've ever needed because I went through the entire house, basement, crawl space and filled up my garage with everything I don't need. The kids are grown and it's time to pare down. He went to the basement and broke down a couple heavy tables, too. I was sure he'd need 2-3 trips but this guy can pack a truck. In less than two hours it was all gone -- all in one load. He swept up and left everything perfect. Such a nice guy, too. I just can't say enough about BK Hauling."

Garbage disposals are durable appliances that usually last at least eight years as long as you clean and maintain them. It’s relatively rare for a garbage disposal to break on its own, as most malfunctions happen due to user errors, like overstuffing the grinding compartment or damaging the blades by trying to dispose of metal or bone. These appliances certainly increase the number of things allowed down the drain, but they’re not foolproof. There are several items you shouldn’t put in your garbage disposal, according to manufacturers and technicians. Don’t put coffee grounds down the drain. The same goes for eggshells, potato peels, hard foods, onion skins, and any dry, expandable food. Most importantly, never put grease or oils down the drain.

The most common garbage disposal size in the U.S. is 1/2 horsepower. This size is ideal for households with three or fewer people or those that don't produce much food waste. Although 1/2 horsepower can't handle the typical food waste load for a household of four (which is about 250 pounds of food waste annually) as effectively as 3/4 horsepower, it remains the most common size of garbage disposal on the market.

While the part of the garbage disposal that attaches to the sink is universal, not every single disposal will work in every sink cabinet. A larger disposal may be too big to fit in a compact space, for example. If the pipes under your sink are arranged in an unusual way, it may be difficult to put in a bigger disposal, even if there technically is enough space.
