"I matched with CG3 on Angi and reached out after our generator did not kick in when we lost power. The generator came with the house so we did not know what to do with it. "Chris and his assistant did an excellent job of explaining the situation and options for repairing or replacing our hot water heater. In the end we chose to replace it and they were able to secure a new unit and install it within 3 hours. "The install went extremely well. The old faucet was removed and new one installed in less than an hour. I can’t recall the plumbers name but he was very courteous and professional. The only issue I had was with the price. $739 to install what they quoted as a $350 faucet. That’s a might steep hourly rate. Even for a plumber."

In most municipalities, you will need a permit to install a permanent home generator, including emergency backup, partial-home, and whole-home generators. A permit for a generator usually costs between $50 and $250, depending on where you live. Your electrician or certified generator installer will usually pull the permit for you—and might be required to do so by your building department—but you’ll be on the hook for the cost of the permit. You should ask your installer before agreeing to any work if they will pull the necessary permits for your project.

In many cases, yes. There are models called dual-fuel generators and fuel switches, but only between certain types of fuel. You can expect a diesel generator to last for up to 30,000 hours of use, which works out to 20 to 25 years with the proper maintenance, of course. That depends on how much you use it, so a diesel generator used for emergencies a couple of times a year will last a lot longer than a generator that takes over for a faulty electrical grid every month for a day or two.
