"The experience was great. Charles call me right away. The vacuum was installed the next Monday. They went over working instructions and cleaned up where install occurred"

"I was highly impressed with Dadstasks. I spoke with the owner, Darryl to get an estimate on an exterior paint job of my home. He was very prompt in getting back to me with an estimate along with a time when he and his crew could begin work. He was fortunately, able to get to my job 2 weeks earlier than expected due to a client cancellation. He and his crew were very professional. They spent the 1st day doing prep work - pressure washing, caulking, and scraping loose paint. They then spent the next few days doing the paint job. They were very detailed and Daryl was even able to accommodate a few miscellaneous repair items that I requested on the exterior to go along with the painting. He was even able to accommodate one that we hadn't discussed previously in the original estimate. Furthermore, the crew did an outstanding job cleaning up, cleaning out the gutters and surrounding area of any debris and paint chips following the painting. They even went so so far as wiping down the windows and doors to make sure they didn't leave any dirt, paint, etc, behind. I was thoroughly impressed with the professionalism and quality of the job and would highly recommend Dadstasks. I will be using them again in the future should I need any major work done on my home."

"We had a very large and complicated concrete pour that we struggled to find a contractor that we felt was qualified enough to complete. After many different calls and site surveys performed our board choose to use APEX. There office was always friendly and went over the call of duty to bring our project together. There in the field guys were top notch and had very nice equipment. Being in the world of construction I was pleasantly surprised by how professional everyone at this company was from the office to the guy in the hole. The concrete portion was performed in such a high caliber that I paid them also to do all our signage erection in the tristate area and excavation. We were sold on how good they were when Colin had our engineered drawings corrected because they were sufficient for the wind loads of our signage. Please save your money and just call the best before wasting your time with hours of unnecessary conversations."

"We love our new bathroom! The contractor gutted the existing bathroom, upgraded the plumbing, and installed all new drywall and tile. The work is meticulous and thoughtful; the price was reasonable. We look forward to more projects in the future."

Install Central Vacuum questions, answered by experts

They’ll use more electricity than the average upright vacuum, but not remarkably more. Most power units plug into a standard 120-volt outlet and don’t have significant power demands. You shouldn’t notice an increase in electricity bills. If you have any specific questions about energy costs, ask your installer as you examine purchase decisions. Larger power units will need more electricity for their suction levels.

The disadvantages associated with central vacuums start with cost. They are expensive to install, especially in existing homes, as retrofitting requires opening walls. The system's bulky hoses can also be inconvenient to maneuver and store compared to portable vacuums. Additionally, repairs may need professional service, adding to maintenance costs. Lastly, while powerful, they may be overkill for smaller homes or apartments, making the investment less practical for some households.

Before deciding whether or not to install a central vacuum system, consider the pros and cons to determine if it’s right for you.

Pros

  • Increased suction power

  • Improved air quality

  • Reduced noise pollution

  • Longer lifespan than traditional self-contained vacuum units

Cons

  • Higher upfront installation costs

  • Expensive repairs

  • Requires significant storage space

Technically, yes, you could install a central vacuum system on your own, but it is a very difficult DIY. There is a significant amount of planning, cutting into walls, and electrical wiring work that goes into it, which should only be performed by a professional. Because of the difficulty and expense associated with a central vacuum system, it’s worth it to hire a professional company familiar with the installation's complexities.

For the average-size house, a central vacuum installation usually takes one day of work by a team of professionals. Large houses may take two or more days. But if you are planning on a DIY project, it’s likely to take much longer. We suggest getting a few estimates for a project this big and fully understanding all the requirements before you make a decision about installation. Certain parts of your house may not be usable during the installation, and you may want to make other plans.
