"Chuck treated me like a friend from the first phone call. Was extremely courteous and accommodating when scheduling a convenient time...evening hours. Very knowledgeable, even with our old vacuum system. He wasted no time fixing the no-suction problem. Wish I could give more stars, I m not used to such outstanding customer service. Just good people!"

"Colin was hired by us to dig a large foundation for our church advertisement sign. He dug and poured the foundation without our lawn being harmed in anyway. He installed all of the equipment and wired it to all specs. His work was top tier in my opinion. Now a days it is truly hard to find the type of installer/ excavator that he was for our familys church. What I enjoyed the most about hiring him was that he told us every part of the project in the best detail he could. We were never confused about what was going on from start to finish. Now we get to use our new sign to continue our churches legacy in our community with the help of Colin. God Bless"

Install Central Vacuum questions, answered by experts

No. Only the hose or the attachments are portable in a central vacuum system. A portable vacuum is a standalone model like a stick, canister, or upright. A central vacuum system is defined by a central power unit, which is installed in one place like an AC unit, and the connected network of piping to funnel the suction.

Before deciding whether or not to install a central vacuum system, consider the pros and cons to determine if it’s right for you.

Pros

  • Increased suction power

  • Improved air quality

  • Reduced noise pollution

  • Longer lifespan than traditional self-contained vacuum units

Cons

  • Higher upfront installation costs

  • Expensive repairs

  • Requires significant storage space

Whether talking about a whole-house central vacuum or a portable vacuum cleaner, the expected cost of major repair work should always be balanced against its replacement cost. However, excluding high-cost motor replacements or major electrical trouble, repairs on a central vacuum system are typically far less than the cost of purchasing and installing a new one.

A central vacuum system can be a worthwhile investment depending on your needs and budget. While the upfront cost is higher than a traditional vacuum cleaner, it offers significant long-term benefits. These systems can save you time and make cleaning your home easier, as you only need to carry the hose and vacuum head, eliminating the need to lug a heavy unit up and down stairs. They also tend to operate more quietly and can improve indoor air quality. The convenience and performance over many years may make it a valuable addition to your home if you can budget for the initial installation.

For the average-size house, a central vacuum installation usually takes one day of work by a team of professionals. Large houses may take two or more days. But if you are planning on a DIY project, it’s likely to take much longer. We suggest getting a few estimates for a project this big and fully understanding all the requirements before you make a decision about installation. Certain parts of your house may not be usable during the installation, and you may want to make other plans.
