"This business cares. My wife and I hired Sustainergy to update the attic insulation and bathroom ventilation in our 1960's home. We were very impressed by the professionalism and energy that Lindsey showed at the initial site visit, as well as the timeliness, optimism, and tidiness of the crew that performed the work. The crew put down floor coverings on our hardwood and throughout their work areas, and did a great job of cleaning up each day. Sustainergy was very responsive to questions and was easy to schedule. Their business practice as an employee-owned cooperative also impressed me. I used to be a remodeling professional - everything Sustainergy did reminded me of best practices for customer service and good business operations. We won't hesitate to hire them for future updates to our home, and I'm pleased to recommend Sustainergy to anyone looking to increase the energy efficiency of their home."

"Went very smoothly. Everyone I was in contact with was professional. Reasonably priced. The service tech was also very respectful of me being immunocompromised regarding COVID-19, which I greatly appreciated. I plan to use them when it comes time for a tune-up."

"Our Home Warranty Company (Old Republic) sent Onesource to our home to fix an AC problem.   They were the 2nd company sent out, the first one charged me a 60 dollar service call fee and left in 10 minutes after saying he cleaned some dust out of the fly wheel.   Turned out, when Onesource came out our A-coil was frozen over and that is what was causing the vibration noise, not the "dusty" fly wheel.       Since we had paid the service call fee just a few days before, Old Republic paid for the Onesource call.   They're due to return in the spring to add R-22 to the unit because they found it was only low in pressure.    We'll let you know how that visit goes."

"Have used this company since 2004 for all HVAC needs. We had them install our new furnace and AC, and continue to use Comfort Solutions for two check-ups each year, one in the spring for the AC, and one in the fall to check the furnace and humidifier. The maintenance contract is a great deal, and includes a scheduling service, where the office calls to set up the appointments for the check-ups. Technicians are always punctual, and careful of my home and property (wear booties, lock up behind themselves after going outside to check the AC unit, and so on). We have not had to call for emergency service, but maintaining the service contract annually makes you a priority call if you do have a problem.

Energy Efficiency Auditing questions, answered by experts

If you want a new boiler that’s going to help lower your fuel bills, you should buy one that has a high energy-efficiency rating. For example, a boiler that is rated “A” uses at least 90% of the energy created by the boiler. And in order to enjoy the best performance, it’s important to have it installed properly by a highly-rated tech.

Yes, with features like LED lighting and variable speed controls for efficiency.

Some types of electric fireplaces use more electricity than others. Models that produce 1,500 watts will have more of an effect on your heating bill than 750-watt models.

Electric fireplaces use an average of $1.85 of electricity every eight hours. These minimal operational costs aren’t likely to make a big difference in your electric bill—unless you’re using it as a primary heating source for your home and it’s running most of the time.

They’ll use more electricity than the average upright vacuum, but not remarkably more. Most power units plug into a standard 120-volt outlet and don’t have significant power demands. You shouldn’t notice an increase in electricity bills. If you have any specific questions about energy costs, ask your installer as you examine purchase decisions. Larger power units will need more electricity for their suction levels.

After you receive your audit and report, review the findings and determine which of the prescribed changes you want to make to improve your home’s energy efficiency. Start by contacting the type of professionals recommended by the auditor who can help you remedy the issues discovered during the audit. Prioritize the projects by urgency, importance, and budget. Then, gather estimates from several professionals, remembering to verify any necessary licensing and experience information.
