As a second generation family-owned business, those same values lead our company today. Fayette Heating & Air has been recognized nationally, regionally and locally for both business practices and its community efforts.

"I will try to be brief....we bought a new Lennox system (heat pump) in July 2019, 3 months after install it stopped working. Over 14 service calls later the unit was finally "fixed " in July 2021 after the techs had to consult with someone from Lennox. So now it is May 2022...about 9 months later and unit stopped working again, almost made it an entire year! We are Comfy Club members, so I called and lady said she will have tech out, tech calls and I explain problem to him, he says will be there within hour, so far so good. Tech arrives and starts off by saying that if it is drain clog, we will have to pay him. I said we are Comfy Club members and he said doesn't matter. I then explain the unit has not worked than 3 months in a row, he corrected me saying they were last here in July 21 for a service call. He went under house and pulled little drain cut off switch out and dumped water out, my Air handler is in a tall crawl space under the house. He said the drain line was clogged and opened the trap access cap and said there was water in it. Well since it was a drain trap of course there was water in it. Also every part he mentioned was installed by Fayette during original install. I mentioned that they were just here in December for our Comfy Club service and he asked if they cleaned the pan or treated it, told him don't think they did, just whatever came with service, he said that it cost extra. So apparently not..He then said he would have to charge me and I told him to bill me...he said he is supposed to wait until he gets paid. Told him he would be waiting awhile, because I was not paying him tonight. Especially since we are Comfy Club members and no one at anytime said that we would need to pay them for a service call, had I known that I would never have called this evening and waited till normal business hours. He then said that our unit is out of warranty and the Comfy Club only covers stuff inside the Air Handler...umm is the drain pan not inside the air handler? Like I said before this is first time it has worked 9 months in a row and I also think we have extended warranty, not sure without checking paperwork. I was adamant I was not paying him tonight, if they send me a bill fine. He left, he was at my house no more than 10 minutes. After he left I started thinking...my Air handler is in a tall crawl space and circulation vents are open, so it gets humid. When we were down there this evening I had a can of soda, which had condensation on it immediately. So an air handler blowing cool air would generate a lot of condensation, which would cause the switch to activate. Seems a bit odd that when he first got out of truck he seemed to know immediately what was wrong and claimed the drain was clogged. After he left I ran my Air hose into the drain line....it was not clogged!! So the issue is probably in the drain pan or possibly a bad condensation switch (overly sensitive) which according to the tech should be covered by our Comfy Club and or warranty, because it is inside the air handler. I would not recommend doing any business with this company and/or getting a Lennox...almost 3 years later and still calling about a new unit...cannot remember brand of old unit but only made 2 calls in 14 years and last call was when it was done. Comfy Club, if what tech said was true, is a waste of money don't bother with that either. Really not sure what they did in December except change an air filter."

"Waited a year did all the math showed zero savings whatsoever. Reached out in December 2019 after receiving my November 2019 utility statements and proved no savings. Naturally they never called back or e-mailed it was radio silence. Gave them 2 weeks and filed another BBB complaint in December 2019 to get my 25% reimbursed back to me of what I should have saved, $692. They responded to the BBB claim in early January to inform me they were apparently on a skeleton crew for the holidays and claimed to have told me that (they didn’t, how could they? They don’t respond.) and gave me the cfo’s e-mail to send all my utility statements to. Finally get things moving after several no shows they sent out a tech end of January 2020 to review everything per the agreement, never touched just like it was first installed. He took pictures and said everything looked as intended. (They lied and told him I had electric work or duct work done so he had to verify the system was still in place. No work was done no one had been in the attic since they installed the system) He had forms to hand copy all my utility statements even though I e-mailed everything at the beginning of January. Was told 30-45 days and I’d have my reimbursement. Fast forward past the deadline several more ignored e-mails and phone calls, on March 4th I’m told in writing my refund status was “in process” I’m told my bills were in the wrong format since they weren’t the original paper bills so they had to reach out to get the originals. (The tech never took the bills that I had printed only copied usage and cost, so apparently they switched to my e-mailed ones from months prior that are .pdfs of what a paper bill would be, I’ve never received paper bills no where in any of the paperwork is that a requirement.) Anyways they claim the delay was getting the “originals” which is illegal they can’t request copies from your utilities unless you give the utility permission, I reached out to my utilities (DP&L, Vectren, they were never contacted). After asking about this new requirement radio silence again and has been since since March 10th. Shortly after the e-mail address for the cfo [email protected] stopped receiving e-mails with this message from google (Recipient inbox full Your message couldn't be delivered to [email protected]. Their inbox is full, or it's getting too much mail right now.) So I’d call and leave voicemails twice a month asking for a call back and use their general e-mail to try and get a response. The one nice thing is I did end up getting their BBB accreditation revoked since they never responded to them either. Today June 8th 2020 I got this response from an unnamed individual: “You filed your complaint with BBB before the matter could even be resolved sir, the company is being taken over by another franchise due to owner passing away. Thank you and hope they can help you further in this matter.” Not sure what me filing the complaint has to do with anything since I only did that since they didn’t respond. I went from being told refund was “in process” on March 4th to you didn’t let us resolve the issue before filing with the BBB on June 8th and by the way we’re being sold good luck. Clearly they never had any intentions of honoring the 25% money back guarantee that I have in writing or resolving any issues that I had. Not sure what my next move will be."

FAQs for energy efficiency auditing projects in Fort Thomas, KY

An energy audit costs about $420 on average, ranging from $100 to $2,250, depending on the size of your home, property, location, and the tests the auditor needs to perform. Keep in mind that the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act’s Energy Efficient Home Improvement credit covers up to $150 of home energy audit costs. Common energy audit tests include:

  • Blower door test: $350

  • Duct testing: $100

  • HERS test: $375

  • HERS certification: $200

  • Infrared imaging: $200

To find a reputable energy auditor, find a local company that offers energy audit services. Research the company’s reviews, methods, and certifications to find a reliable professional in your area. The most reputable energy audit companies are HEP-certified by the Building Performance Institute (BPI). Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local energy auditor guidelines to ensure you’re hiring a certified professional.

The difference between an energy auditor and a home inspector is primarily in the purpose of the inspection. The energy auditor conducts tests in your home to determine the energy efficiency levels in areas like windows, insulation, and doorways. The auditor then makes recommendations for ways to improve a home’s energy efficiency

A home inspector examines various structures of your home to determine that everything is up to code and gauge the condition of features like the roof, foundation, HVAC, and electrical. The home inspector reports on the overall home and makes repair recommendations.

Typically, a local home energy auditor is responsible for performing energy audits. A home energy auditor will conduct one of three energy audits designed by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) to determine the energy efficiency of your home. The auditor often provides analysis that can help guide changes and improvements to your home for better energy efficiency, giving recommendations as necessary.

The three levels of home energy audits include:

  • Level 1: Review of your energy bills and home for signs of energy inefficiency and areas for improvement. The average cost range is $0.08 to $0.12 per square foot.

  • Level 2: A level 2 ASHRAE energy audit costs $0.12 and $0.35 per square foot. In-depth analysis of your energy usage and provides a report of cost-saving changes.

  • Level 3: Comprehensive analysis and detailed recommendations for ways to improve your home’s energy efficiency. A level 3 audit costs about $0.36 to $0.50 per square foot.
