"From the start most importantly I was informed. The sales rep was fantastic. Highly recommend Jake. They had so many choices and so many payment options. We ended up taking the 21 months no interest. As for the install goes. Flawless they were on time materials delivered on time. Started the tear off at 7:30 just like I was told and we?re done before 5 pm. Clear communication with the lead installer. I?m glad we went with Fourfront! When we do our siding. It?ll be them no questions asked asked"

"HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! We got our estimate early in the season. Shaun was very good at explaining the whole process. We had many colors to choose from even near the end of the season. Called to relook at the estimate and it was thousands lower with a better warranty than others we’d checked in on. We didn’t actually hire them until the beginning of school. When I did call the process went smoothly. The day of our family had to do an appointment half way through the tear away portion of the old roof. They stopped so we could get through and cleared a path. Getting around with three kids isn’t always easy. They were so helpful, Alex, saw us before we turned off the car parking on the street and cleared an entry point back in for us. The whole team was great despite the heat conditions. I would gladly hire them again. The whole process went smoothly from start to finish. Many colors to choose from and they had roofs already finished so you could see the colors on a roof that had already been finished. I would hire them again. Any kind of soot was removed and it was like getting a roof without there being any evidence left over that it was done in one day. Highly recommend Shaun and whatever team Alex was on. They were both really nice. Shaun made the whole process run smooth and payment there were multiple payment options. I wish we could have done it before the season really started the offered some amazing discounts. Professional, warranty offered, and financing available. Our home looked like an older home, now it looks updated and leaves us with a ton of options to go in."

Siding questions, answered by experts

Mildew grows into porous wood, making it more difficult to remove than regular dirt (and more destructive). We suggest using a dedicated mildew and mold fungicide to remove mildew, which is found in any local home improvement store. Apply a dose of the fungicide to the siding and leave to work according to the instructions, usually for an hour or two. Then wash it thoroughly away and scrub the spot again. Repeat the process if necessary. If nothing is removing the mildew stains, you should plan on removing those clapboard planks in time, as their damage could cause future problems.

You may only need to repaint fiber cement siding every decade or so, but you should clean it every six to 12 months, depending on your local climate. First, wash with a garden hose or similar low-pressure device (not a high-pressure washer, which can damage the material) to remove dirt and any large debris. Then, gently wipe down the surface with a soft brush or cloth in a side-to-side motion, following the grain of the fiber cement.

Yes, siding orientation can affect a home’s resale value, but in what way and by how much really depends on the prospective buyer. For instance, some buyers prefer the more modern appearance that vertical siding offers, so having it can increase your home’s value in their eyes. However, other buyers prefer the classic, more common appearance of horizontal siding, so having vertical siding can decrease your home’s value in their eyes.

Siding pros typically charge by the square foot when providing estimates for siding projects. They’ll take the material cost and add in an estimated labor fee, and some contractors will include an additional upcharge to account for profit, waste, and unexpected issues. Another important price factor your pro will consider is the quality of your home’s current siding, which they’ll need to remove, and your home’s sheathing. If pros have to make any additional repairs to your home’s exterior, the added labor will also influence your final siding cost.

Some homeowners use caulk on the edges of clapboard siding to help seal it. However, this method invites new problems. With so many gaps sealed, clapboard siding is often unable to drain properly and moisture from rain or other sources can build up inside. This can lead to rot and other issues over time. When repairing clapboards, it’s best to avoid caulking the final product. The exception is trim around windows and doors, which should be caulked to avoid moisture problems.
