"One of the worst experiences with a company I’ve ever had. Next to no communication with management when it wasn’t about collecting money for the job. Of which they claimed I owed $600 more than what I made a 50% down payment on initially due to measurement errors they never provided me proof for, then conveniently “forgave” as I paid the second half once the job was “completed”. Only a few weeks later we have pieces coming off in our kitchen and bathroom (pictured below) and this is after multiple visits they scheduled as “repairs”. In actuality we were left with unfinished flooring downstairs and unfinished carpet upstairs not even allowing us to use our upstairs bathroom through Christmas while we had family visiting. To be clear, I think this is primarily a management issue and they don’t deserve business if they’re going to charge thousands and thousands of dollars to facilitate flooring being put in slow, sloppy, while simultaneously attempting to seemingly collect extra money only to let it go once they realize the job was done horribly. Instead of calling them back to have a 3rd “repair” for a job done less than a month ago, I’d rather let anyone know who reads this that your money is almost certainly going to be better spent somewhere else."

Many DIYers and pros start installing flooring in the middle of a room to ensure a balanced, symmetrical layout, especially when using tiles or planks. Beginning in the center will enable you to work toward the edges so the final layout feels intentional and centered, even if the walls aren’t perfectly square.

Decent carpet will last around 10 years on stairs. Some less durable carpets, like polyester, will only last five years on stairs. The ideal carpet, like wool or nylon, can last about 15 to 25 years. If you don’t put padding under your carpet, the carpet won’t be protected from wear on the underside. This could result in a shorter life span for your carpet and increased carpet repair costs over time. An unpadded carpet can also be less comfortable to walk on, depending on your subfloor and the type of carpet.

Carpet installers use furniture sliders or blankets to protect your furniture during the installation process. They handle each piece with care to minimize the risk of damage. Additionally, they may employ techniques such as lifting and shifting furniture rather than dragging it across the floor to prevent scratches or other marks. If you have particularly delicate or heavy items that need to be moved, discuss special handling with the installers beforehand.

Laminate flooring takes about 24 to 48  hours to settle. Before this, planks are not completely acclimated to your home, and walking on them could cause shifting and permanent damage to the flooring. You should allow floorboards to acclimate for 48 to 72 hours before installing so that they can adjust to your home’s humidity and temperature levels, but they will continue to acclimate and settle after installation. For this reason, avoid placing any furniture in the room for 72 hours after installation.

Your floors will continue to settle for a few months after installation, becoming less bouncy as they rest.
