"The work that was performed looks very good - but the communication was, and continues to be, very poor. After we accepted the quote we were told 4-5wks on the job to begin, but the job took 13wks. I honestly didn't care that the work was delayed because of Covid, I was in no rush. What I cared very much about was the fact I had to personally call in multiple times to get my own updates as to when the work would begin instead of the other way around. I then had more fence installed to complete the entire job on my property. You called me a day prior and said you would be out the next day to finish, and you never showed up...no call or anything, radio silence. After this was finally completed I received the invoice and an email stating you would just charge the card on file, to which I responded and said no problem and asked for the receipt to confirm the payment. The money was withdrawn out of my account, no receipt was provided. Fast forward a few days and I receive a call asking when I would be paying the invoice! I inform you the money came out almost 2 wks prior and to this very moment I still have yet to have any confirmation that this was resolved. Again, happy with the install, very displeased with the communication.

"Overall, went well. They had the cedar fence option, which no one else seemed to have. Service was performed as indicated - wait was about a month or so (as we were told). Service was performed properly and clean-up was great. Only downside - called them back a month later to add another 8 ft section after the neighbor removed their fence. Due to minimum job amounts, the cost was almost 1/3 of the entire first fence job, which was crazy for 8 ft of fence. Note: this was never mentioned to me when I asked them upon the initial visit about the possibility of adding an additional 8 ft. section - they said they could do it, but never said how crazy the pricing would be. However, overall I would highly recommend American Fence!!!

"We contracted Acme originally in 2003 for full install - rails, pickets, gates, & posts. Now, in 2019, we had them return to "refresh" our aging 16 year-old fence -- rails, pickets, & gates this time / no posts. The company was not able to meet the original install date... and when the materials were finally ready, the installers showed up with a different style fence than we'd ordered. There was further delay, as Acme needed to order the pieces/parts from another party, and also to allow for assembly. Then, finally, I needed to lean on the owner to get on Acme's schedule to get the install rolling. The salesman who responded to our call appeared to be knowledgeable & capable. The installers were experienced, efficient, courteous/pleasant, and did a terrific job. The owner was accessible, but not at all a proactive communicator ==> I needed to initiate each and every one of our calls throughout the prolonged installation phase. (In his defense, Acme is extremely busy at this point, with installations stretching even into December) Fortunately, we weren't in any particular rush, and started the process early so as to be wrapped up before the cold of winter set in. I cannot provide cost comparisons, as we only took the bid from Acme.(return customers). I believe the quality of the materials (cedar) used are every bit as good as the 16 year old ones being replaced... even better, probably, as they are a little thicker than the originals. Bottom line: If you can be flexible and patient with the timing, you should be satisfied with the end outcome. Be prepared to have to take the initiative if anything goes awry, and to "help them" make room for you on their calendar.
