"Ted installed a new backsplash in our kitchen and did a terrific job. From start to finish, we could not have been more pleased. We were going with a complete subway tile look and Ted asked if we had considered doing something different above the stove. We had not and asked him what he would recommend. He suggested a framed herrinbone. We went with it and we are so delighted we did. We would recommend Backsplash Boss to anyone. Thank you Ted."

Small jobs welcome

"Mr Price installed Mokawk Rev Wood Plus in our Primary Bedroom and our Craftroom. He also installed a beautiful Marble Backsplash in our kitchen. The skill that went into the backsplash and the flooring was perfect. I am a very picky guy, and Sam just nailed it!!"

"West Shore Home replaced my bathtub with a walk in shower. Expensive addition but well worth the investment. Jon H, Brett C, & Alex P. put in a long day's work. The shower is beautiful. The water in my 4 unit condo building had to be turned off for a bit. The team worked with the master plummer to get everyone notifed. Also, during the demolition tiles in an adjacent bath were damaged and an overhead light was broken. The tiles were reset before the end of the day. I received a new light for my shower which was installed today. Thank you West Shore Home!"

"They showed up on time. They were friendly and professional. This was their first time installing a Cleancut kit with the time estimated by the Cleancut company to take 2-4 hours to install. They followed the written instructions well and did it in a little over 2 hours. They took precautions to keep dust from going all over. They cleaned up well when they were finished. It turned out great."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

When choosing between porcelain and ceramic tile, the best option depends on your specific needs, budget, and project application. Porcelain tile is generally more durable, denser, and harder than ceramic, making it a good choice for busy, high-traffic areas. It also offers superior moisture resistance, making it ideal for moisture-retaining spaces. However, porcelain is typically more expensive, and its hardness can make it brittle, potentially causing it to crack if a heavy object is dropped on it. In contrast, ceramic tile is a more budget-friendly option with lower material and installation costs. It is softer and easier to work with, making it a great choice for DIY projects. While not as durable as porcelain, ceramic is still a quality material suitable for many home applications, particularly small, decorative projects.

Glass tiles are among the most difficult to install. This is because their transparency makes the adhesive visible, and any imperfections on the opposite side are also likely to be visible. Glass tiles also must be handled carefully during installation, as they are prone to scratching. For these reasons, glass tiles often require professional installation to get the most out of their beauty and unique look.

Glass, ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone are all excellent choices for tiling a shower floor. Some glazed finishes can be slippery when wet. Your tiling contractor can provide more information on which tiles will work best for your shower floor.

The process takes two to four days, depending on the size of the area and your experience level. The first day involves assessing and prepping the existing tile, while the second day is for laying the new tile. This may take longer in complex areas. After letting the adhesive dry for 24 hours, grouting and sealing can be completed on day three. For larger projects or intricate tile patterns, expect the timeline to stretch a bit longer. Also, proper drying time between steps is essential for long-lasting results, which extends the project’s time.

The rule tells you how to cut tile to install it in a corner. The 3/4/5 rule recommends that you should have 3 feet across on one straight line, four feet on the other perpendicular line, and 5 feet of length from the end of one of the lines to the other. You’re making a right triangle with the tile, and the hypotenuse (the line across from where the 3-foot lie and 4-foot line meet) should be 5 feet long.
