"I am not pleased with the service I received! They damaged my waterline and stated someone would be out to fix it. It's been 9 months and no one will return my calls nor have they come to fix what they damaged! They ruined my lawn and never came back to replace the soil they dug up! They ruined my basement floor and I had to replace my entire floor! They said they would be out to test the sump pump and drains that were installed, again, it's been 9 months and no one has followed up with me! I'm really concerned that the lifetime warranty they say I have even exists!"

"Beware of shipping issues with this company. Ordered an ice maker installation kit on 10/10/25. Shipping was due no later than 10/20 according to company and FedEx tracking. FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Just going in circles with them and FedEX. If they shipped after 14 days it would be 22 days from that point, 32 days from the date of order if they shipped it that day. There was a deadline for installing this part before tenants arrive. They did not care, would not m"

Additional phone (216) 226-3353. National Award Winning. Also offer full electrical and plumbing services. For 46 years, Stack Heating & Cooling have provided superior products, elite craftsmanship, and stellar customer service to our clients who have HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing needs.

"Stack came out to install a new furnace in February 2025. They advertised quality installation and years of experience installing directly on proposal. When summer came around the A/C connected to the new furnace would not come on. We called Stack to come out and repair the AC at 8am - they did not return our call until 230pm on a 90-degree day. I did not know the issue had anything to do with new furnace install. I was told they had 100 VMs and couldn't get to calling us back before then. We have two young daughters (2 and 1) so this was an urgent repair for us. By the time they called back, we had already booked another company Westland (who is great) to come out. They informed us that the furnace was installed wrong. We were charged $400 by Westland to fix an install mistake by Stack. I called Stack and asked them to cover the invoice. She repeated the same thing on the phone 100 times saying they couldn't verify the furnace was installed wrong even though I have an invoice with details on exactly how it was installed wrong (details below). She should be fired. She repeatedly implied the other company Westland must be lying about the install issue. I would like Stack to cover this invoice."

"We chose Gilbert's (Lennox) for our replacement central A/C. They were highly recommended by a friend and a neighbor. They were right!! We had gotten 4 estimates before hiring Gilbert's. Their price was the best! Their yearly service/maintenance contract is lower than their competitors. Todd and associates are professional, questions were answered, and any hiccup was addressed and resolved in a timely manner. Two thumbs up!!!"

Appliancezone.com is a leading on-line retailer of appliance parts and accessories for do-it-yourself homeowners. Incorporated in 2008, it was started by CEO, Jim Allen and his wife Paula, who operated an appliance repair business for nearly fourteen years prior to starting the internet company Appliance Zone.

"This is the first online review I've ever written -- my experience with this company was that bad. Three aspects that deserve attention: 1) I placed an order and tried to cancel six minutes later. Turns out they don't accept cancellations. 2) I couldn't find a phone number, so I had to work the return/refund by email. The exchange was painful -- so unhelpful I felt like I was interacting with a bad chatbot. 3) I ended up eating shipping costs (expected) and got hit for a 50% restocking fee (unexpected) because I refused the package instead of paying to ship it back. Didn't matter that it went to the correct address, was clearly labeled, and had prior return authorization. So I ended up with a $21 refund on a $60 order, and a lesson learned about where not to buy appliance parts."

"I paid Mr. Phomalee $1275 to do some bathroom remodeling work that he'd initially stated he'd be able to begin between Christmas and New Years this past December. After not showing up at that time, he proceeded to promise that work would begin on eight separate dates, missing all of them. During this time I received no communication from Mr. Phomalee unless I initiated it, and when I did he made an excuse related to his vehicle or family each time. Finally, I informed Mr. Phomalee that I needed him to return the funds paid to him as it had become clear he had no intention of doing the work for which he had been contracted. He informed me at that time that his previous excuses had been lies, that he had used the money I'd paid him for gambling, and that he most recently had not been able to due the work because he'd been trying to secure a loan to cover "the bad checks [he] had written to gamble so [he] didn't go to jail". So, I'm now in a position where I've had an unusable shower for two months, and will be forced to seek legal action against Mr. Phomalee to attempt to recover my money."

"I was a customer of Hartland & Wilken for many years. They serviced multiple homes of mine and rentals. Their techs and receptionists were always friendly and did a great job when working on my house. But when it came time to buy new AC units, their sales team was unresponsive. I tried for a total of 4 months to purchase new units for my property. Each time a tech came out, I told them, please add it to the notes to have someone contact me. After 2 months, I called in and asked what was going on. I was trying to get them in before the end of 2021 as I knew prices would be going up. I finally got ahold of Shane and he apologized as he said I slipped through the cracks. I can understand that. Shane came out and walked through my house and let me know I would have an estimate within a week or 2. I said, just keep me updated if needs to be longer. Since was in middle of winter, it wasn't like I needed them right away. 2 weeks went by. I called and asked for Shane again. He was busy but said would call. me back. 2 more weeks went by and was told he was in a meeting. I explained it was urgent as I never receive a call back. I was told by the receptionist that he would email me after his meeting. After 2 more weeks, still nothing. I then tried emailing Theresa with a last hail mary as I liked their techs and service and they were local. Pretty much explained, not sure what I did to upset them or if I was on some list but if someone could reply to me. No response. I referred countless friends and family to them and this is how it ended. I would have given just 1 star but their techs and receptionist are very friendly. But their sales team brought the rest down. I can't believe I had to beg to give them money and they still didn't return my messages."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

High humidity is one of the most common reasons for air vents to sweat or produce condensation. When the cool, dry air from your HVAC unit meets warm and moist air in your home, it will cause condensation. Insulating your ductwork can help prevent this. If you live in a very humid region, a dehumidifier can also help.

Turn your system off when you're toasty or when you're out to prevent unnecessary wear. Using the timer on your thermostat so that it switches off when it reaches a certain temperature or turns on just before you get back from work is best. An annual maintenance contract can be helpful to ensure your system receives these important services at regular intervals.

It depends on how fast an HVAC technician can resolve the issue. First, if there's a refrigerant leak, you’ll want to keep small children and pets out of the house. Next, you’ll want to turn off the AC unit to ensure no more freon enters your home. Finally, you’ll need an AC technician pro to come to your home and fix the leak immediately. Ultimately, it’s best to leave your home if you discover a freon leak—the risk of exposure is very high, and it’s not worth risking your health to stay.

If you run an AC with a dirty filter, it could allow dust and dirt to build up in your ductwork, which could make you sick. At the same time, your air conditioner won’t work as efficiently as it would with a clean filter, likely resulting in less airflow, more wear and tear on your HVAC system, and higher energy bills.

Yes, government incentives and programs are available to encourage energy-efficient upgrades in many regions. These incentives may include tax credits, rebates, grants, and low-interest loans for homeowners who invest in energy-efficient improvements such as HVAC system upgrades, insulation, and efficient windows. The availability and specific details of these incentives can vary by location, so check with your local government or utility company to explore your options.
