This time they painted all the interior walls and the doors and ceilings. The entrance to my foyer is about 18 ft. high. They painted the spindle stairway. There was no splashing. Great taping job. They cleaned the area well. But most important is that Justin and his crew were courteous, respectful, approachable, on time. They were a well-oiled machine. I can't say enough about them. The type of wallpaper matters, as vinyl wallpaper tends to last the longest—sometimes 20 years or more—while a peel-and-stick wallpaper, which is the easiest to install for DIYers, will usually only last for around five years. Exposure to high humidity, smoke, and UV rays from sunlight can also limit the lifespan of your wallpaper, as can heavy traffic in the installation area.

The color of the paint, its opacity, and the depth of the texture on the paper all affect how many coats of paint you need to apply to paintable wallpaper. You'll need at least two coats of paint to ensure even coverage. Don’t be surprised if you need to apply three coats if the embossing is very deep or if you use a dark color.

How long peel-and-stick wallpaper lasts depends on a few factors, including the conditions in the room, the quality of the wallpaper, and the wallpaper's application. As a general rule, peel-and-stick wallpaper can last for at least five years, but you may decide to remove it sooner. Under ideal conditions, it can also last for much longer.

Factors that may shorten the lifespan of peel-and-stick wallpaper include high humidity in a room (such as a bathroom), dirty walls, and low-quality paper.

For the most part, peel-and-stick wallpaper doesn't damage walls. However, there may be some cases when damage does occur. For example, if you try to rip the paper off the wall, you may pull away some paint at the same time.

The walls can also be damaged if they aren't prepared properly before you add the wallpaper. For example, if the coat of paint is too fresh when you put the wallpaper on the walls, it can peel away as you remove the paper.
