"I highly recommend Grant's Tree Service. Paul was professional and friendly. The estimate was very reasonable and the job was completed in the time Paul stated. The workers were courteous and friendly also. They worked hard for two days clearing two very tall trees. They were respectful of the surroundings and cleaned up after the job was complete. Highly recommend."

"When searching for a reputable arborist, I came across Arborite Tree Care LLC. They were very responsive, prompt, and professional. The job involved removing a large tree and pruning four large ones. The job was completed on the scheduled day and at a very fair price. I will hire them again whenever I need a professional arborist, without hesitation!!"

"Ryan’s crew did an outstanding job removing the trees from my front yard. The trees were leaning towards my home. Ryan’s crew took extra precautions to ensure the trees fell away from the house. They very respectful of the property, and even went the extra mile and chipped the tops of the trees for me. Ryan Cunningham Services is a reliable and trustworthy company. The owner is a man of his word with a great work ethic and it shows in the job(s) he and his crew do."

"We are very pleased with the work Mike and his crew did on removing some very large limbs from our Maple trees and taking down a very large dead Ash tree. They were friendly, courteous and very professional! It was a hot and humid day, but it didn't slow them down. They left our backyard as though nothing had happened and the price was very reasonable. I would highly recommend this team for all your tree needs."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

You’ll have to balance up the cost, the value of the tree (sentimental or otherwise), and the risk factors. An experienced arborist will help you understand whether transplanting is likely to be successful. The cost and hassle of transplanting a large, well-established tree are often not worth it, especially if the species is fast-growing and easy to source. The decision depends on the age and species of the tree, the conditions in the new site location, and how careful the company is when digging out and moving the tree.

Some trees will bounce back just fine, and others will struggle and possibly die. Evergreens, for instance, have a very difficult time recovering after droughts and usually die after periods of extreme dryness. Usually, you’ll have to just wait and see—if the drought occurs in wintertime, it’s possible that your tree will recover during the gentler springtime.

The ideal time to prune a tree depends on the type of tree. Typically, late winter or early spring is a good time to prune but isn't always the case for "towering trees." It's best to trim when trees are dormant and before blooms appear but can vary depending on the tree type. It's always best to research the type of tree or ask a professional tree trimmer to determine when is the perfect time to prune your tree.

It can be bad to leave a dead stump in the ground. A stump becomes a hefty piece of dead wood in time and eventually (especially with the help of rain) starts to rot. That makes it a locus point for diseases and pesky insects, as well as a bit of an eyesore. It’s best to remove a tree stump completely before it starts to decay, especially before it starts to fall apart. If the tree was removed because of disease, it’s even more important to fully remove the stump if possible.

Yes, the same rules discussed above apply to your neighbor: They can trim one of your trees as long as they’re only cutting the portion that extends into their property. Your neighbor is not allowed to access your property without permission, nor can they cut past the property line.
