"Alex, of MA Guerra Construction, called me the day I contacted Angi, and came out to assess the project/needs. I was able to schedule dry wall repairs and painting (after damage due to ice damming this past winter) for my garage and living room within three days after this assessment! during the process of repair work, Alex was easy to contact and supervised the project well. the cost of repair was appropriate and affordable. the work was done thoroughly and I am very pleased with the results. I would refer my friends and neighbors without hesitation. and I will continue to use this company for my future needs."

Small jobs welcome

"We had a wonderful experience with Bucklew Basements. They came in quickly and got the job done. Their team was friendly and explained everything clearly. The work was not only done with quality and care, but they also did a stellar job with post-job cleanup. We have an old basement with limestone walls that were in need of repair. We also had a retaining wall put into our basement. Everything is now dry, sealed and clean. Do not hesitate to hire these guys!"

"It is rare to find a business or representative from the business that is really just focused on solving your problem rather than getting you to sign on the dotted line! Josh Stobinski from Ohio Basement Authority out of Columbus was just such a person from an equally reputable company! We had one 6 foot wall in the basement that gets wet every time we have a heavy rain. After careful examination of the wall, both inside and out, Josh provided his diagnosis and recommended that we try a couple of things that might solve our problem without an expensive fix from his business or any other. He left us his card and email if the problem persists after we try his proposed fixes. He was polite, articulate and a GREAT representative for Ohio Basement Authority! I would hire them in a second if (or when) I need their services. Thank you Josh-and thank you Ohio Basement Authority for hiring and cultivating employees that really just want satisfied customers!"

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

There are contractors specifically trained in the design and construction of retaining walls. Retaining wall contractors are skilled at dealing with the soil on your property and assessing what kind of drainage should be installed. They will recommend the best materials to use for the project and can handle the processing of permits by local authorities.

Yes, you can use cinder blocks for many purposes, including retaining walls, foundations, garage walls, and fences. Building a cinder block retaining wall costs between $60 and $200 per linear foot, including materials and professional labor. For a 30-foot-long retaining wall, the cost ranges from $1,800 to $6,000.

They prevent soil erosion, add flat space, and enhance property aesthetics.

Through proper drainage solutions and compacting the foundation soil.

Most railroad tie retaining walls have a life span of 20 to 30 years, though you may need to replace your wall sooner if it’s repeatedly exposed to heavy rain, runoff, and excess moisture. Railroad ties are typically treated with creosote, which makes them much more durable than untreated wood. Though they last longer, they don’t last forever. For the most longevity, make sure your retaining wall has a sturdy base and steel reinforcements. You should also install drainage to direct water away from the wall.
