"Gary and his partner, Forest, were very pleasant to work with. Gary is very professional and can do almost any project. I was building a  kitchen in a former dining room in my 1915 house and needed to remove two windows to make room for the new cabinets. Gary and Forest removed the windows, boarded up the openings, replaced the cedar siding outside, and painted the new boards so that you couldn't tell windows had ever been there. Insulation and sheetrock were installed and taped. I did the painting to save money. They arrived when they said they would and Gary always called if there was a delay. They installed new wiring for the refrigerator, stove, microwave, two switches and 5 can lights, plus installed the cans. Adjusted the circuits in the electrical panel to accommodate the new wiring and installed under counter lighting.
In January, 2014, Gary built a beautiful corner window bench with storage for me and installed it in the kitchen, replaced old knob and tube wiring in the upstairs, added an outlet in the bathroom, removed old toilet and vanity, installed new vanity and toilet, and installed light fixture.
I consider Gary the very finest contractor I could have found. He listens to my suggestions, is very amenable to any changes, patiently answers my questions, and makes suggestions if he thinks something may not be feasible or cost effective. I already have a list of future projects waiting for Gary to handle. Anyone hiring him will be very pleased with the whole experience and his costs are very reasonable.

"We had a wonderful experience working with Darrin/Xclsuive Home. Darrin was very knowledgeable about multiple aspects of home repair, and it was very convenient to work with a single company that could provide quality repair in several areas that we needed for our home: siding repair, roofing repair, repair to an external door, wooden deck repair, and concrete repair. Darrin responded quickly to our request for an estimate and finished our projects quickly. We would be happy to work with him again!"

"Brad was fantastic! I had previously had another contractor come in and estimate about 1000 in repairs. Brad indicated this was definitely not the case. He provided an estimate and then beat it by $100. He was knowledgeable, on time and friendly. Estimate was provided and he came back and finished everything in less than 3 hours. Great guy! Great service! And I will be using him again.

"I recently removed a wall in our house and called RJE General Construction to quote the job of patching the ceiling and existing wall. They came out the same day and gave us a quote that was lower than expected, and significantly lower than another quote I received. My wife and I are extremely happy with the work that was completed. The wall is ready to paint, and they textured the ceiling after they patched it. They used a drop cloth to protect the floors, and swept everything up with a broom and vacuum. The work was incredible, the worker was nice and considerate, and I would highly recommend this company."

"My husband and I took on the major task of completely gutting and renovating a 1850's farm house.  We full well knew that we could do many things on our own, however, drywall is nothing that we wanted to attempt.  We originally hired Rich to hang and finish the drywall throughout the entire 3,000 sq ft house. His estimate was great, his professionalism was wonderful and we felt very comfortable with him working in our home while we were away at work.  In the process of renovating, a storm blew a very large tree on the majority of our home, creating even more work that needed to be done. And, to beat it all, I was 8 months pregnant at the time. Rich was very flexible in working around the tree crisis and being sensitive to the changes in our family structure as well. Rich had the majority of our home completed and ready for paint in less than 1 month. The remaining portions, were still under repair from the tree so those had to be done at a later time. Rich was always there when he said he would be, he was always very straight forward about changes that needed to be done and decisions he felt would be in our best interest. At a later time, we hired Rich to complete the drywall in the rest of the house as well as paint those areas. He helped in picking colors as well as making suggestions for type of paint etc. Rich is not only a drywaller and painter to our family but a part of it. My husband and I would never trust anyone else to do the work in our house except for Rich.

Home Building questions, answered by experts

Review every proposal carefully before starting home building in Lancaster. Avoid quotes lacking specific allowances for site work, as clay soil and flood risks demand precise foundation planning. Reject any bid that omits mandatory city permits, required inspections, or adherence to the OH building code. Furthermore, out-of-town contractors lacking local connections face severe scheduling delays. Always verify that your chosen professional holds valid state trade credentials for plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work.

Helpful?

Completing home building in Lancaster provides immediate and lasting advantages. In the short term, you gain access to accessible land while remaining close to the Columbus job market. You also benefit from an active local network of experienced professionals. Over time, your property value appreciates within this growing Fairfield County corridor. Furthermore, new construction meets strict OH energy standards, ensuring optimal insulation and superior energy efficiency during cold winters.

Helpful?

When organizing home building in Lancaster, review local zoning rules and private subdivision restrictions early in the process. You must also plan around central OH weather. The ground freezes from December through February, making foundation work difficult, so schedule your groundbreaking for the spring. Finally, account for severe weather risks by incorporating reinforced construction or a safe room to protect your property against high winds and tornadoes.

Helpful?

Successful home building in Lancaster requires durable materials suited for the local climate. Choose poured concrete foundations set below the frost depth to prevent heaving. For the exterior, install high-wind architectural shingles and fiber cement siding to withstand severe weather and freeze-thaw cycles. Inside, use engineered lumber to resist warping from humidity. Finally, install double-pane windows and robust spray foam insulation to meet strict OH energy efficiency standards.

Helpful?

When planning home building in Lancaster, prepare for site-specific expenses. Clay-heavy soils expand and contract, requiring deeper foundation footings. If your lot sits near the Hocking River floodplain, expect mandatory flood-resistant construction requirements. You must also account for utility tap fees, multiple city inspections, and radon mitigation systems, as OH sits in the highest risk category for radon. Always secure a comprehensive site assessment before finalizing your budget.
