"Salesman here 6 hrs. Quoted over $30lk got down to $25,500. Scheduled walkthrough- that was cancelled. Started work and had ?issues? that walk through would have found. Blew circuit breaker in workshop of basement, we now need an electrician bc even w replacing the circuit breaker w a new breaker it still turns off. Quotedi time length/ what they would be able to do by salesman- all wrong. Workers say it will be twice as long and what sales man said they could go around they can not. "He told me that my work would be done according to the order in which the contract was received. When he set up a date he would come to work, it would not show up and he would not follow up to get another date. He missed many days the same way. The first date that he promised was in may he didn't show up until October. He broke my sprinkler system in several places. He fixed one of those places he never fixed the other one . He put the brick sidewalk up too high near the shed. So that when the ground froze. I could not open the shed door. The next spring I called him complaining about the shed door and sprinkler system. He sent a crew over who fixed one spot on the sprinkler system. But would not fix the bricks by the shed door. He refused to fix the bricks by the shed door. But said he would come over cut off. The bottom of the shed door so I would open over the bricks even in the winter. He never did when I called to ask him to come and cut off the shed door he hung up on me and then wouldn't take many calls. I hired somebody else to cut off the shed doors. "

No, you shouldn’t lay bricks directly on dirt. While it might seem like a shortcut, it leads to a patio that shifts, sinks, and becomes a maintenance headache. Dirt expands, contracts, and erodes—none of which mix well with long-term stability. To build something that lasts, excavate the topsoil, compact a layer of crushed gravel, and add a coarse sand-setting bed. This layered base gives your bricks proper support, allows drainage, and helps block weeds from creeping through. Cutting corners here just means you’ll spend more time—and money—repairing your brick patio later.

A fireplace hearth is a fireproof flooring material that extends out from the base of the fireplace and into the room. Hearths can be made of brick, ceramic, marble, limestone, and more. A hearth serves the purpose of decreasing the fire risk in the area directly around the fireplace. If flying embers hit carpet or wood, they’ll spark and create a fire. But if they hit something like tile or granite, they’ll simply go out.

Limewash can be removed from brick, but the method of removal will depend on how long the limewash has been on the brick. If the limewash has fully dried—which happens after about five days—you’ll need to use a diluted muriatic acid mixture to remove it. If there are multiple coats of limewash, you may need to apply the acid mixture several times to fully remove it from the brick.

It’s rare, but cobblestone can also be made from marble, slate, jasper, and other types of rock. Technically, you can make cobblestone from almost any type of rock, but if it is weather-resistant and stands the test of time is another question entirely.

If you choose a roller for painting brick, go for a thicker option, at least a half-inch.
