"He said to me, don't focus on the wiring just watch the TV instead. I waited three days later, went to Home Depot and purchase a white stick post and just layed it over the wirer because he nailed and tacked everything to the wall. Its working out, that's how it's going."

"My husband travels fairly regularly so we decided to install a security system in our new home. Theo arrived on time and did a thorough inspection of our home to assess what kind of coverage would fit our needs. He was very polite and explained every step in the process. He installed a keypad, motion sensor, door sensors and window sensors in a timely manner and made sure to clean up after himself. Then he gave us a comprehensive tutorial on how to use the equipment (including the mobile app) and made sure we were comfortable with it. I would recommend ProTecht's services to anyone in the market for a home security system. They're incredibly professionally!

"Prompt and professional service. Very small business but service has been excellent. Gear is high tech and competitively priced when compared to the bigger companies. Home monitoring service is also very responsive. I know because we have accidentally tripped alarms and monitoring service quickly reacted."

Home Automation questions, answered by experts

The main factors to consider when staging your home when selling are your budget, number of rooms to stage, and how long to keep the staged setup. Since home staging costs about $600 per room when using professional services, you may want to only stage the rooms that are most important to potential buyers, including the kitchen, living room, and primary bedroom. You should also consider which repairs or updates are necessary before staging your home, such as painting interior walls, carpet cleaning, and refinishing hardwood floors.

In most cases, staging a home is expensive but worth every penny. According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), 81% of agents representing buyers stated that staging made a positive impact on the buyer’s perception of the house and made it easier to visualize it as a home. The value of your home—which is to say the amount buyers are willing to spend—is based on perception alone and not the inherent value of the land or structure. Therefore, improving the appeal of your home through staging is likely to make your home more enticing during a home sale.

The main difference between a home stager and an interior designer is that the former creates temporary, generally appealing spaces, while the latter creates personalized design choices for your permanent home. A home stager seeks to depersonalize your home while also showing off the best features of the home to potential buyers. An interior designer works with you to infuse your personal style into the decor in your home. You’ll typically only hire a local home stager when selling your home.

A fireplace can increase a home's value by as much as 12%, with some reports indicating that homes with fireplaces list for around 13% more than the median sale price. Fireplaces are both functional and aesthetically pleasing, adding a charm that many homebuyers find desirable. The actual return on investment depends on the fireplace's size, type, and material.

However, a fireplace can detract from a property's value if it is unusable, not up to code, or in need of immediate repairs. The type of fireplace also matters; custom electric fireplaces and inserts can add value, while freestanding units that can be removed have less impact.

To stage your home yourself, clean your home thoroughly to sell, leaving it gleaming like a five-star hotel. Less is best—always clear away clutter and anything personal so buyers can focus on the beauty of the rooms. Prospective buyers will check the closets, so investing in a storage space may be necessary.

Move furniture around, mix fabrics and decor, and de-cramp the room by removing any unnecessary furniture. A fresh coat of paint always helps, as do natural features like plants.
