"Had Betts Structural Engineering come and look at the foundation of a house we were in contract on. Josh came out and was professional and informative. He informed us the foundation was failing and explained what needed to be done. He throughly explained everything and told us how we could do it ourselves for much cheaper than a contractor could do it. In the end he saved us from a long and expensive process if we proceeded with the house."

"Cramer Engineering provided me with the information that I needed to evaluate and repair the foundation of my home. Zach Bingham answered all of my followup questions in a timely manner and provided me with a comprehensive written report. The cost of the inspection was well spent and saved me a considerable amount of money in that I did not spend money on unneeded repairs."

"The remodel turned out very well. The open concept opened up the the kitchen and made it brighter. There is now more usable counter space and usable cabinet/storage space. All new Amish made cabinets were installed along with new granite countertops, with a granite composite double sink. All new lighting was also installed. I am overall very pleased with the outcome."

"I have had Construction and Remodeling Experts do work for me in the past and have always been more than satisfied.. In the Fall I was selling a rental home which they had worked on before. I found that I needed the basement waterprofed, another contractor wanted to dig around the foundation and charge me a lot of money. Mr John Deel came out an said because of all the heavy rain, it was just leaking a little bit, they waterproofed my basement with a couple coats of waterproof paint, that corrected the problem an saved me about 5,500$ . I had them put some siding and a new roof and gutters on the garage with what I saved. They did a fantastic job, I sold the home about two weeks after they completed the work. They were always on time, tried to advise me the best ways to save money. They were neat and always cleaned up each day two of my neighbors were so impressed with the workmanship that they also got new roofs. I would recommend this company all day long to anyone in need of any kind of home remodeling. They are honest and fair in pricing.."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

For structural engineering in Kent, select air-entrained concrete designed for freeze-thaw resistance and use a robust membrane waterproofing system to address the area’s high water table. Opt for pressure-treated lumber and hot-dip galvanized steel to resist humidity. Consider helical piers for variable soils and install vapor barriers beneath slabs. Prioritize advanced drainage systems to protect foundations from Kent’s persistent moisture and shifting clay soils.

Helpful?

In Kent, watch for cracks that widen or lengthen, stair-step cracks in masonry, or doors and windows that suddenly stick—especially after heavy rain or freeze-thaw cycles. Uneven floors, visible dips in rooflines, or new water seepage in basements can signal worsening structural problems. If these changes develop, especially during seasonal shifts, consult a structural expert in OH promptly to prevent more extensive repairs.

Helpful?

After completing structural engineering work in Kent, keep the following: final permits, engineer’s drawings, inspection reports, materials certifications, and soil analysis results. Maintain photo records of the project’s progress, along with warranties, receipts, and notes on drainage or soil mitigation. Store these documents digitally and physically, and retain them for at least ten years to support future maintenance, insurance claims, or property transfers in OH.

Helpful?

In Kent, monitor minor cracks or settling by marking their ends with a pencil and tracking changes after seasonal shifts. Take dated photos and note any new water stains, especially in basements. Ensure downspouts extend at least five feet from your foundation to manage moisture in Kent’s clay soils. Avoid DIY repairs on structural elements—temporary shims or supports should only be used for non-load-bearing features until a professional can assess.

Helpful?

Before starting a structural engineering project in Kent, gather all necessary permits and submit your plans early to allow for review time. Arrange for a soil analysis, as local clay and till can affect stability. Mark underground utilities before digging and schedule required inspections in advance. Partner with local experts familiar with Kent’s climate and soil to help anticipate and prevent unexpected project delays.
