"I can't say enough about how wonderful it was (and is) to work with Top Landscaping. Gwen and her crew were amazing! Our landscaping was a complete/unmanaged mess; Top Landscaping turned our landscaping into something my wife and I are genuinely proud of; now we receive regular compliments from all of our neighbors (a number of them have now asked Gwen to work on their landscaping as well). The entire crew was polite and genuinely knowledgeable about all things landscaping (including scientific names of plants, which was really amusing for my young daughters). Moreover, the crew went above and beyond to do everything we wanted; they even removed an old rotted fence, despite the fact that it wasn't part of the original planned work, because it made everything look better."

Architects questions, answered by experts

The country's most famous Neoclassical architecture appears in major government buildings and college campuses. The White House is unmistakably the most famous example, though the Capitol Building and Thomas Jefferson's Monticello are also iconic uses of the design.

Most Greek Revival architecture homes are one and a half to two stories, depending on the footprint, which sets them apart from some Federal architecture homes that are three stories. The gabled roof on the second floor can sometimes cut into the living space, especially on smaller homes of this style, which leaves a much smaller living area upstairs.

An architect plans and designs new construction and alteration projects. They often provide sketches for homes, office buildings, shopping malls, and other structures.

Depending on what the blueprints are for, a qualified draftsperson, contractor, or architect can draw them up. In some cases, including specialty permitting for a build, you may be required to use a licensed architect.

In many cases, a blueprint drawn up by a certified professional is required before a city or municipality approves a permit.

It is technically possible to draw your own blueprints, but the process is extremely involved and really demands help from an expert. A professional architect has an understanding of design elements, interior design, the functionality of different rooms in a home, and how everything from furniture, outlets, and light switches should be laid out to serve you and your family best. Hiring an architect for blueprints can get expensive, but it’s the most responsible way to begin a new construction project. If you’re keen on DIYing, you could consider starting the process and then having a professional take over.
