"Mike and AM Tree and Landscaping were wonderful! They listened to our concerns, made suggestions and explained WHY they were going to trim the way they did. They touched base with us regularly to make sure we were all on the same page! They went above and beyond what tree services we’d ever had before! Clean up was spot on and all at a very reasonable price. We definitely recommend them to everyone!"

"I would hire Alfonso's company again without hesitation. As a woman and single parent, the majority of workers I hire have been disrespectful and condescending, and on top of that do not do a good job. Not so with Alfonso and his crew. Hernandez Tree Service was accommodating for my schedule, punctual, and experts in tree removal. I had two dead trees, a fallen large tree and another leaning against a sapling, ready to fall into the neighbors privacy fence. It was a tricky and dangerous job. There were two medium size live trees to cut also, that they cut the trunk so close to the ground, thankfully, that I will not need the stump removed nor can one see the stumps. They did excellent cleanup when done. I highly recommend this company."

"Anthony and his team did an excellent job. They were very thorough in completing all the work we had discussed. This was a large project: cleaning out old shrubs, trimming and removing some dead trees, and stump removal. The crew showed up on time, ready to work, and were a pleasure to work with! Each team member showed attention to detail. It was great to work with folks who take pride in their craft. We are a home for the sightless and visually impaired in Green Twp. And this also provided us with some additional safety benefits for our residents, with problem areas removed. It looks so much better! Much appreciated! Based on our experience with them, I would not hesitate to suggest someone give Anthony a call, get a quote, and see if he can help with your project."

"Great workers. I used to be able to cut my yard but I became old. I have had this company for 2 weeks and already love the work they do. For a younger group of workers, I am impressed."

Customers say: True professional

"Hired them to remove a tree, grind out the stump and trim another tree. Work was done promptly and very well. They cleaned up almost all of the debris. The only regret I have is waiting as long as I did to get it all done! Very highly recommended!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

It depends. Smaller, younger trees take longer to mature, but they're more resilient, their roots don't get as damaged during transplanting, and they recover faster. Plus, they're much more affordable to plant, and it's possible to DIY the planting.

On the other hand, mature trees produce fruit faster and provide more shade and privacy immediately. Ideally, a small or medium tree is the better choice if you can wait a few years for it to mature. But if you need immediate maturity, a larger tree is the only option.

You can use a felling ax to chop down a tree by following the same prep and steps as a chainsaw, but be prepared to use some muscle. For trees bigger than 7 inches in diameter, it can take some time and serious strength to cut down a tree using just an ax.

Early signs that a tree is struggling include premature leaf shedding and lesions or other strange markings. Peeling bark, dead or rotten branches on the ground, and a conspicuous lack of leaves can all be signs that a tree has started to die. By the time a tree starts leaning, it’s usually too far gone to save.

Dutch elm disease can’t harm humans. In fact, according to Cal Fire, bark beetles aren’t even typically dangerous to trees unless that tree is already weakened. The problem comes when Dutch elm disease kills a tree. That tree is more at risk of falling and catching fire, which can pose a serious threat.

Trimming your palm trees once or twice per year keeps them healthy and robust. Caring for palm trees includes cutting off brown leaves to prevent wildfires and pathway obstruction. However, you don’t want to over-trim the palm tree. Cutting too many branches off will weaken the tree and prevent future growth. And it’s essential to have a strong, healthy palm tree during hurricane season to prevent safety risks or property damage.
