"Tyler and Zachary from Century Chimney arrived on time and kept my house as clean as it was before they got here. They used a camera to inspect the inside of the liner, which no other sweep had done before. They found exposed wood that was charred, and an approximately 6" hole in the middle of the system! I had been using this fireplace for several years before I met the guys from Century!! My last sweep didn't find any of these issues. Tyler and Zach just may have saved our lives. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!"

"Brian, the owner, came out to give me an estimate for the work needed. Came down from roof with price, an explanation of what work was needed, and that he could complete the job right then. Had Brian do job because price seemed fair and I needed the work done ASAP since it was leaking into house. Glad that Brian could take care of it so quickly. So far, so good the leak is gone and my chimney is fixed."

"Bob Thompson (Owner) did a great job tuck pointing my chimney. He also tuck pointed several areas around the house that I pointed out to him and he also tuck pointed other areas that he saw needing this work done. Bob is very professional. He called me prior to beginning the job to let me know the date and time that he would start. Once he started, he provided me with pictures inside the chimney to show the current condition. In addition to tuck pointing the chimney, he applied a acid wash to clean the effervescence that had built up. He also applied a sealer to the chimney. It took him two days to complete the job. He also corrected me from overpaying him based on our contract. He's a good guy, hard working and very honest. I would definitely recommend him to others."

"The crew came & removed the old shingles, then replaced 8 sheets of plywood, installed 2 rows of ice guard, continuous ridge vent, & new drip edge .The dormer roof was done with rolled roofing. They also replaced the flashing around the chimney, in the valleys, & on both additions. The weather was deplorable, but the crew worked around it. Hard working individuals that take pride in their work. I was surprised how quick they finished even with the bad weather. We will use them again & are happy with the finished roof.

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

Yes, with features like LED lighting and variable speed controls for efficiency.

No, range hoods do not necessarily have to be vented outside. Ductless or non-vented range hoods are available, which are common in condos or small kitchens where connecting to external ductwork isn't feasible. These hoods operate by taking in air, filtering it through charcoal filters to help eliminate smoke and odors, and then recirculating the cleaned air back into the kitchen. However, while these recirculating hoods are more versatile, venting to the outside is still the preferred and more effective method for completely removing smoke, odors, and gases from the room.

If a range hood has minor issues, the average repair costs $85 to $210. This accounts for both parts and labor. More extensive damage can cost as much as $300 to $500, at which point it may be worth considering completely replacing the range hood.

Regular cleaning of filters and checking ducting ensures effective operation.

You should contact a local range hood installation professional to install your range hood and do the ductwork. Prices range from $50 to $100 per hour, with the total number of hours required varying based on the project complexity. Simple installations might take an hour or two, while more complicated ones can take four hours or more.
