"Very professional. Great communication. Fair pricing. They did a great job installing my shade sail. I've already got some siding work scheduled. A+ in my book."

"My wife and I are new to the Lima area and recently bought a house that we can slowly work on and build up. I was advised of the company by word of mouth and I am weird when it comes to who I hire and allow in my home. They came out and were very professional, respectful of my home and family, and I appreciated the most that not only did they repair what I had asked they went above and beyond to assist in anything else I needed. I was really glad I called them and received exactly what I was hoping for. I would gladly recommend their services to anyone and will continue to do so."

"The main drawback was that they did not call me ahead of time to let me know they were on their way. They showed up 45 minutes later than they said they would. The price was okay. They need to call the customer and let them know whats going on before they show up."

"They seem to do a good job - not great, but it is good. Another company offered to do it for $35 a cutting instead of $40, but Other Side Lawn does good enough for me. Sometimes they'll miss some of the edging around the fence, but it doesn't really bother me. Strangely, I've had to ask them to send me a bill a couple of times. I think they're putting the bill in the mailbox after they cut and then the mailman removes it when he delivers the mail, so I don't get the bill."

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Pavers are a great decking option for pools. They’re customizable, come in a variety of shapes, sizes, colors, textures, materials, and price points, and they’re slip-resistant. Concrete pool decks, on the other hand, are harder to repair and replace if damaged and aren’t as slip-resistant as most paver materials. However, not all pavers are equal in terms of durability, maintenance, and performance. Pavers also have their own cons that may encourage homeowners to opt for stamped concrete instead, such as higher upfront costs.

There are several methods for attaching stair stringers to a deck. The best way is to bolt the stringers to the deck joists using three carriage bolts in a triangular pattern. This method offers the sturdiest fit for stairs that won’t budge. Alternatively, attach the stringers to the deck rims using lag bolts or to the posts using adjustable slope hangers.

While eco-friendly decking, also called composite decking, is a win for the environment because it consists of recycled materials, it has trade-offs. These sustainable options often come with steeper price tags, lack natural wood's warm look, and can become uncomfortably hot under full sun. Some composite materials can also become slick when wet, posing a potential hazard.

A sunroom will add more value to your home than a deck, but with a much higher up-front cost. Depending on its construction and function, a sunroom may be counted as additional living space, while a deck is strictly an outdoor feature. Both will increase your home’s value, but the sunroom will have a much bigger effect.

Trex states that its Trex decking is an eco-friendly composite material made of 95% recycled or reclaimed materials (including plastic and wood), making it a sustainable brand of choice. According to the company, Trex is one of the largest plastic bag recyclers in the U.S., with each 500-square-foot Trex deck containing about 140,000 recycled plastic bags.
