Ozone smoke removal uses an ozone generator to eliminate stubborn odors from sources like house fires, wildfires, or cigarette smoke. Ozone (O3) is a highly reactive and unstable gas that effectively neutralizes smoke odors through a process called oxidation. It 'donates' its extra oxygen molecule to the organic compounds causing the smell, altering their structure and eliminating the odor, with oxygen being the primary byproduct. This method can be effective on building materials and furniture. However, because improper use of an ozone generator can be dangerous to your health, this treatment is best left to a professional.

One way to sanitize and deodorize a carpet is to use a cleaning solution made from one part vinegar and two parts warm water. After you vacuum, spray the solution on parts of the carpet that smell, being careful not to oversaturate it. Let the solution sit for 15 to 20 minutes before you perform your normal carpet sanitation routine.

Depending on your type of carpet, a wet/dry vacuum is a great final step to removing blood stains, but it will only help after you’ve used another method to pull out the bulk of the stain. A good option is to use a wet cleaning method, then apply baking soda to the stain, and then follow that by vacuuming thoroughly. Remember that this vacuum type does not work on all carpet types. Wool can shrink with this method, so always check the cleaning instructions from your carpet’s manufacturer.

We don’t recommend you put your silk rug in the washing machine. Silk is extremely delicate; stuffing it in the washer won’t do it any good. Additionally, the hot water can harm your rug. If you have stubborn stains you can’t get out, the safest bet is to call a pro.
