[email protected] - EPA LEAD RRP Certified Contractor. Certified Federal Government Contractor. Member - Society for the Protection Ancient Buildings (SPAB) & ASTM International. Full Current Contractor Liability Insurance. Cost Is Determined By The Job. Extensive Formal Training In The Arts, Design, & Trades. After Hour/Emergency/ Weekend/Holiday Services Available.

"From start to finish, Pete and his team made our masonry project an absolute breeze. Pete and his team are prompt, courteous, respectful, trustworthy, and extremely tidy. To top it all off - I'm not sure there is a more knowledgeable professional in the area when it comes to caring for old structures. Pete used the old techniques suitable for our old home that are sure to far outlast the many modern bandaids put in place before we bought the house. Pete was also extremely conscious of our budget. He never tried to recommend work that we didn't absolutely need and finished the job under-budget--all while providing services over and above what he had originally scoped. We are sure to use Pete again in the future."

Architects questions, answered by experts

The best way to start designing a house is to know what you want before designing. Making a list of your biggest priorities in a home will help. Designing a house without an idea of what you need or want in a home will lead to many trials and errors that could make it harder to figure out what you need in your design.

The cost to draw up housing blueprints ranges from $800 to $2,700, depending on several factors. Blueprints for a custom home cost between $5,000 and $20,000, and extraordinarily complex designs can easily surpass the high end of that price range. The experience level of the architect will also affect the cost, as more experienced professionals can charge higher rates.

Some architects include interior design in their portfolio of offerings, while some architectural firms employ interior designers to handle that aspect of home building projects or refer clients to interior designers they’ve worked with in the past. Ask a local architect whether they offer interior design services as well.

Yes, designers collaborate with contractors and engineers to ensure a smooth construction process.

Building a house without blueprints is not advised. It will prevent you from obtaining necessary building permits and meeting building codes and is likely to result in shoddy construction and unsafe living conditions. Detailed blueprints ensure that a house is built to exact specifications and is constructed safely and structurally stable.
