"Dan responded immediately when I left a message requesting an estimate. He came out on July 4th to see the job, provide an estimate and schedule the repair. He and 2 others completed the job in an efficient and timely manner with a fantastic end result. Dan is a great person to work with. He's honest and conversational. I would definitely recommend his company."

Customers say: Quick response

"Harry was prompt in getting here to look at and give us an estimate on our drywall repair project. Friendly and courteous. He arrived on time and finished the project in a timely way. His finishing work was a disappointment, mostly because he rounded out corners and edges that should have been sharp and left some irregularities."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is possible to rewire a house without removing the drywall, but this doesn’t work in all homes. You can pull out old wires and insert new ones if you have access to the wiring system via the ceiling or through a crawl space. Some pros can also use a magnetic kit to fish the old wire out of the wall through a hole cavity and install the new wires. Just keep in mind that doing this is less stable than removing drywall, as you won’t be able to staple the wires into the framing.

Although they are used for similar tasks, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum and is primarily used for large-scale projects like taping and finishing seams on new drywall. Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it a thicker compound best suited for small wall repairs like filling nail holes or cracks, as it dries quickly and is easy to sand. For small repairs, either product can be suitable. However, you can use joint compound for small jobs in place of spackle, but you cannot use spackle for large-scale taping and mudding projects.

Water-damaged drywall should almost always be replaced. Not only does it look bad, it’s a breeding ground for toxic mold. Even if you think the area is dry and there’s no active leak, the only way to be sure is to cut out the damaged area and see for yourself.

Whether Venetian plaster increases your home's value often depends on the buyer's preference. As a purely aesthetic upgrade, it doesn't add structural value in the same way a kitchen or bathroom remodel might. However, its beautiful and attractive appearance can make a home more appealing to potential buyers, possibly leading to more interest, higher offers, and increased competition when you sell.

Yes, you can speed up the time it takes for plaster to dry, but it's important to do so carefully to avoid issues like cracking or crumbling. Proper ventilation is key; open a window or use a fan to circulate air in the room. Heat can also accelerate drying, but be cautious, as too much heat can cause the plaster to dry too quickly and crack. Check the plaster's packaging for the recommended drying temperature and set the room's thermostat accordingly. While managing humidity is important, avoid using a dehumidifier, which can remove moisture too aggressively and result in crumbly plaster.
