"We couldn't be happier; that is the only way to start this review. Rod and Kristi worked with me on the design. They took the time to understand the materials and aesthetics that were important to our family. Changes to the design were handled quickly. Most importantly Virtuoso Landscaping fulfilled every single aspect of the contract quickly, neatly and with exceptional service. I was very impressed how polite and friendly everyone on the crew was. My husband who doubted the need for the stairs absolutely loves them. He now has a safe, efficient passage to his favorite fishing spot. Thank you, Rod, Kristi and Crew! Again, couldn't be happier. Can't wait for you to work some landscaping magic in the spring."

"Sean did an excellent job on removing concrete debris from my property. He went above what I asked him to do and also excavated where I did demolition. He was quick, highly communicative, knowledgeable and did the job at a competitive price. Would recommend to anyone!"

Small jobs welcome

"Aaron quickly responded to my initial inquiry. He provided a very competitive quote and discussed the delay that would be necessary due to the soggy condition ground. As soon as the ground froze, Aaron and his crew felled the trees and removed all the wood. I would use him again because he is prompt and thorough."

"We had our front and back yard torn out completely, grass and bushes. Within 3 days it was transformed into a knew and BEAUTIFUL landscaping. Nick asked what we wanted but for the most part we let the professional pick for us because he saw where the sun hit through out the front and back yard and what bushes would grow best. Nick and his crew work very hard at a very reasonable price. Thank you so much Nick and crew."

"Top notch land and lot clearing did a great job clearing my lots. They were very prompt in reaching out when I did an online inquiry. They had someone out to do an estimate the next day. I was able to book the job and they had equipment out with in the next two days to do the job. They were very reasonable with pricing that I was actually surprised. The two gentlemen that came out and did the work were very professional and seemed very experienced. I would recommend them to anyone."

"After being completely disappointed with four other landscapers, Clark came through big time. Robert came up with a whole new idea for a problem area in the yard and then executed faultlessly for a very reasonable price. Need landscaping help? Lawn care? Look no further! Call Clark’s!"

Excavating questions, answered by experts

A trench that is less than 5 feet deep often doesn't require a protective system. Most residential trenches will not go this deep (the typical residential drainage trench is just 18 inches deep). In the event that an excavator needs to dig more than 5 feet beneath the surface, a protective system is required unless the excavation is in entirely stable rock.

You should dig 3 to 6 inches deep for plastic edging. Dig as wide as you need to fit your plastic edging into it—2 inches is usually sufficient.

To determine whether your homeowners' insurance will cover crawl space repair, consider the cause of the issue. Repair may be covered if the problems were caused by an event that the insurance covers, such as vandalism or a windstorm. However, companies won't cover the repair if the issues are caused by neglect or wear and tear.

Landscape edging is more DIYable than trenching. You can DIY your own digging projects, but proceed carefully and only with proper knowledge of the equipment and appropriate safety measures in place. Keep in mind the project's scope and estimate how long it will take you to do it on your own. While you can certainly save money by DIYing home improvement projects, you can’t exactly hide an unfinished—or worse, ruined— landscaping job from the neighbors. It’s always safer to call an excavation pro near you to get an estimate.

Downspouts should be buried at least 5 to 10 feet away from your foundation. This can vary depending on your local building codes, soil type, and property slope. The main goal is to ensure water is directed away from your foundation.
