"Let me just start by warning other contractors not to deal with more than one person in charge of a project. For me it was like a scene from "good cop, bad cop". I explained to the one sister that the drain line underneath the driveway was too shallow and in some areas directly under the concrete and was mostly crushed before the job began. I had no way of knowing whether the line needed to be replaced since it was not visible. The original estimate included the drain only. The 60 linear feet of pipe was, of course, additional. The electrical wiring from the garage to the house was embedded in the concrete we were removing which I brought to their attention. I was able to get an electrician out that night and stayed late to help him install the line to save them additional expenses. All work was agreed upon before proceeding by one of the adult members in charge. After the work was completed, a different adult member of the family complained about the extra charges. My complaint about the inspector was in reference to the fact that the wire had been allowed to be embedded in the concrete and the drain line directly beneath it in the original job. Had the drain line been six to twelve inches below the concrete, or the wiring had not been embedded in it, it would not have had to be replaced. I felt bad about the extra charges but it was not something anyone could have forseen. If there was additional debris left, I was not made aware of it. I cleaned up any splashing to one of the adult member's satisfaction. I brought in additional top soil to fill in the void areas along the driveway as the original line of the driveway had been slightly changed at their request. Regardless of all of this, the drain and drain lines worked perfectly. The driveway looked great and the electrical line had been properly installed. But none of that seemed to matter after the job was completed."
