"I don t normally write reviews, but I felt like this needed mentioning for the awesome job they did, particularly when it comes to finding good contractors. We had a main water line to our house break and I found A1 online. Their reviews online looked solid, so I filled out our issue through home advisor and they called me back within minutes and came out to give us a quote within the hour. After getting a couple different quotes for this big job, they came in at a competitive and affordable price. They had us scheduled within a day and had the job done within a few hours. What made this job particularly difficult was that we had a huge oak tree right over our old waterline and they were able to trench successfully around it. They made us feel very at ease about the job at hand and were very professional and prompt during the process. Not everyone can do this kind of work and they should be very proud of what they do. Would definitely recommend them!"

"We had an issue with our main stack and also needed our garbage disposal replaced, and Matt did an outstanding job. He was on time, professional, and explained everything in a way we could understand. The quality of his work was excellent—thorough, clean, and done right the first time. What we appreciated most was his honesty and the care he took in our home. It’s not easy finding someone you can trust with major plumbing issues, but he absolutely earned that trust. If you’re looking for a reliable, skilled plumber who takes pride in his work, I highly recommend Greene Plumbing Services. We’ll definitely call him again for any future needs!"

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

While a leak may seem small, even a gentle trickle of consistent moisture can lead to mold problems in your bathroom. Make sure you know how to check for mold if your toilet has been leaking for a while. Pooling water by your toilet also poses a risk for someone slipping on the slick floor of your bathroom. Finally, a leak of any size can lead to water waste that increases your water bill.

The cost to unclog a drain varies based on the location and severity of the clog. For simple clogs within your home, such as in a sink, toilet, or shower, hiring a plumber typically costs between $110 and $350, with an average of around $200. Snaking a toilet or sink usually costs between $110 and $275, while a bathtub or shower clog costs about $225.

For a more serious clog in the main sewer line, the cost is higher. Clearing a main line clog generally costs between $200 and $600, with an average of about $380. However, prices can range from as low as $100 for snaking a minor clog to over $1,600, particularly if advanced methods like video inspection and hydrojetting are needed for a large or hard-to-reach blockage. Some severe main line clogs can cost upwards of $1,000 to clear depending on factors like the cause of the clog, its distance from an accessible cleanout, and whether the pipe is located beneath an occupied space (e.g., in an apartment building). You may be able to save money on minor clogs by using a drain snake or bladder yourself.

A well-installed wall-mounted faucet shouldn’t splash. That’s why it’s worth hiring someone with experience installing wall-mounted faucets. Beyond the installation, you should carefully choose the right faucet and sink combination. If your sink splashes after installation, you can try installing an aerator, which lowers the amount of water coming out of the faucet.

The only downsides to hiring a master plumber is that they charge a higher hourly rate than a less experienced plumber. Plus, master plumbers likely have less availability, given the demand for highly experienced professionals. The benefits far outweigh the cons, though. Upsides include the following:

  • More professional repair

  • More experience fixing your specific issue

  • Recourse if something goes wrong

  • Warranty for the work (in some cases)

  • Some insulation from lawsuits if the plumber gets injured on your property

It’s a good idea to drain your pipes to prevent them from freezing if you’re expecting extremely cold temperatures or planning to be away from your home for an extended period of time during the winter. You may be able to avoid draining your pipes if you insulate outdoor pipes and keep your home heated to a minimum temperature of 55 degrees.
