Customers say: Super punctual

"As usual, they did an excellent job. I had already purchased an Aquasana OptimH2O whole house water filter and a Phyn Plus Smart Water Assistant + Shutoff (automatically shuts off water main upon detecting a leak). They did the installation of these two devices into the water main. Jim did a superb job of installing not only a functional system, but also one that looks great. They are always my "go to" for plumbers -- have used them many times and regardless of the plumber they send out, have always been pleased with the process and the result. They offer a 10% senior discount on labor (but not parts). Note that they do not have a fixed amount trip charge like some, but they do start the labor clock when they call you as they are leaving their last job so you are paying for their travel time."

"Plumber was courteous, listened to my comments concerning installation options, and did an excellent job; cost was higher than the estimate, caused by unforeseen difficulties that required additional work."

"Josh Huffman did a great job. I had a leak under my kitchen sink. He diagnosed it as just pipes and nuts needing tightening, a quick and inexpensive fix. He fixed kitchen faucet and added a bidet attachment. I couldn't be happier. ECO Plumbers have always been great for me."

"I had tried several different ways to unclog the standing water in the disposal side of the sink with no success. The plumber arrived and was about to disassemble the drainpipe when we tried the switch one last time—and it worked to clear the clog. The plumber said since he really didn’t do anything, there would be no charge, even no trip charge. I was very impressed with the company’s approach and will use them the next time they are needed."

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

Putting caulk around a toilet’s base where it touches the flooring can help hold the toilet in place. A more effective way is using caulk with plastic shim wedges. Place the shims underneath the base to steady and stabilize the toilet. Add some caulk to help keep the shims in place and provide a stronger and more lasting stabilization effect.

Frost-free faucets are a smart idea if you live in a region that sees freezing temperatures. These specially designed faucets are typically insulated and feature a shut-off within the house. When temperatures drop, you’ll close the outdoor spigot so that freezing water doesn’t sit in the fixture and cause it to split or crack during cold weather.

No, shower valves and cartridges are not universal. They must match and typically come from the same manufacturer. Mixing and matching different brands is unlikely to work and can cause issues like leaks or malfunctioning faucets. To find the correct replacement, check the old valve or cartridge for a brand name, model number, or serial number. If you cannot find this information, contact the manufacturer or check their website to determine which parts are compatible.

A bit of water in the bowl can help unclog a toilet, especially if you're using a plunger. However, if the bowl is full to the brim, you'll need to strap on gloves and remove some of the wastewater in a cup or container so it doesn't overflow when you try to unblock the pipe. If you're concerned about it filling further, manually close the flapper in the toilet tank or turn off the water supply to the toilet.

Most homeowners pay between $150 to $500 to replace their frost-free faucet. It depends on the type and the brand. For a lower-end model, you won’t pay much more than the cost to replace a standard outdoor faucet. For a higher-end model, you could end up paying twice as much. Either way, installing a new frost-free faucet can lead to long-term savings by preventing damage to frozen pipes.
