Customers say: Super punctual

"As usual, they did an excellent job. I had already purchased an Aquasana OptimH2O whole house water filter and a Phyn Plus Smart Water Assistant + Shutoff (automatically shuts off water main upon detecting a leak). They did the installation of these two devices into the water main. Jim did a superb job of installing not only a functional system, but also one that looks great. They are always my "go to" for plumbers -- have used them many times and regardless of the plumber they send out, have always been pleased with the process and the result. They offer a 10% senior discount on labor (but not parts). Note that they do not have a fixed amount trip charge like some, but they do start the labor clock when they call you as they are leaving their last job so you are paying for their travel time."

"The plumber came out and replaced the valves in a neat and speedy manner. He inspected his work and found that one valve had a slight leak so he fixed it without adding time to the invoice. He even gave me a tip on how to drain my hot water heater while we waited for the pipes to drain."

Affordable Plumbers questions, answered by experts

Yes, drains are one common entry point for water bugs. However, water bugs may enter your home through various locations including doors, windows, pipes, and vents. Water bugs are drawn to the dark and moist atmosphere drains provide, and can easily find their way into your home through sewer drain pipes. You can stop water bugs from entering through drains by regularly cleaning your drains and repairing faulty drainage systems.

Homeowners insurance often covers water leaks and resulting damage, but coverage depends on the cause. Leaks from sudden and accidental events, like a burst pipe or storm damage to a roof, are typically covered. However, if the leak is due to a lack of maintenance, homeowner negligence, or general wear and tear (such as an old roof failing), the claim will likely be denied. Some causes, like flooding or leaks from faulty appliances, may be excluded from standard policies. After taking steps to stop the leak, contact your insurance company immediately and review your specific plan to understand your coverage.

Wall-mounted faucets are installed 6 to 8 inches above the countertop. The height you choose is very significant because the wrong choice will lead to a faucet that splashes water everywhere. Your installer should have a good recommendation based on your sink type, size, and shape. A good installer will ensure the sink is comfortable and splash-free.

Due to the exposed plumbing, pedestal sinks are more challenging to install than traditional closed vanities. Pedestal sinks may also require additional floor and wall support or demolition. However, if you have the correct plumbing in place, then installing a pedestal sink is pretty straightforward and can be completed in a day. However, it’s best to hire a professional sink installer to ensure it’s done correctly.

An underground water leak will most likely show signs of water damage in the basement. If you have a concrete foundation, look for frizzle lines and discoloration on the walls. Sometimes, you may be able to feel the moisture with direct touch. Also, if your basement smells musty or moldy, you might have an underground water leak that’s causing mold to form.
