"This was a project I was dreading. They came in and completed the project in a total of 5 days. They were very conscientious and made removing wallpaper look easy. They were great and addressed any areas I was not happy with. I thought light shadows were painting imperfections and they were willing to repaint the area even after I realized it was a weird shadow. I do plan on having them back, but want to get some carpet work done first."

"I got bids from four companies before making a decision who to hire.  Quality Counts Painting was one of the companies.  I made an appointment with Dennis Trivett to visit the condo so that he could prepare his bid.  He arrived on time, was professionally dressed, and conducted his evaluation in a thorough manner that demonstrated he was familiar with bidding these types of jobs.  I received his bid promptly and it included a detailed description of the work to be performed, the fact that it included all labor and materials, with the price and payment terms clearly indicated.  I compared all bids and decided to hire Quality Counts Painting if they could start and complete the project in a timely manner.  We agreed on a start date.  On the specified date, the crew showed up on time with everything they needed to get started.  The workers were careful to protect exposed wood surfaces while removing the wallpaper and borders.  They also carefully protected the carpet while painting, even though I told them all carpet was going to be replaced after they finished painting.  They finished the work in the time frame we had agreed to.  They cleaned up after themselves at the end of each workday and when the project was completed.  Dennis Trivett met me after the work was done to walk through the condo while I inspected all work.  He wanted me to point out anything I was not satisfied with so that they could make it right.  I could not find anything.  He told me if I found anything later, I should call him and they would take care of it.  I received the bill promptly after our tour.  It was for the quoted amount and they honored the Angie's List discount of $100.  I would definitely hire this company again."

"The front door, area surrounding the entrance to the home and the front porch, and the garage doors looked beautiful after the work was completed. My neighbor even commented on how great this looked! Darryl and his team also cleaned the gutters, power washed the deck and some small spots on the brick. The deck and back doors looked great! I would hire again for handyman services or painting jobs."

"We have hired Strong Painting for a very challenging project, not just paint, but also replacing big size panels, patching and repairing. Our house is very tall and does not have an easy access to the sides. Trino and his team made an excellent job and were very accommodated for all our requests. The project price was fare and the quality of job is outstanding. I would definitely recommend Strong Painting to everybody and would e using this company in my future projects."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

No, you don’t need to apply paint primer to your wall before hanging paintable wallpaper. Manufacturers design paintable wallpaper so that the paint will adhere effectively, so primer isn’t necessary. Plus, even if you opt for a light shade of paint, you won’t have to worry about the shade underneath showing through because you are painting on a light, white surface.

The color of the paint, its opacity, and the depth of the texture on the paper all affect how many coats of paint you need to apply to paintable wallpaper. You'll need at least two coats of paint to ensure even coverage. Don’t be surprised if you need to apply three coats if the embossing is very deep or if you use a dark color.

If you need a stronger magnetic surface, or you need to use a different type of paint in the room (like waterproof paint in a damp basement), there are other accessible options. You could fit a steel panel over the wall, try magnetic wallpaper, or apply chalk paint instead.

If you want an inexpensive shortcut, hang a pinboard or chalkboard on your wall. These removable options are ideal if you’re a renter who can’t repaint or plan to move in the near future.

Wall panels offer functional and aesthetic benefits. From a practical standpoint, panels can improve your home's insulation and energy efficiency, especially if you opt for solid wood panels. They can also help protect your existing wall.

Aesthetically, wall panels have a knack for adding dynamic texture, warmth, and sophistication to a room. And thanks to their many different shapes, sizes, and styles, wall panels can elevate a wide variety of home designs.

Finally, it’s relatively easy to cover wall panels, so you have some flexibility if you end up not liking the look over time.

To determine how many rolls of peel-and-stick wallpaper you need, measure the square footage of the walls you’re covering and divide that by the square footage that each roll covers. Add 10% to 20% of your total square footage to account for pattern matching or damage while installing.
