"Excellent!! We are so glad we picked an experienced company. Ed and his helper, Johnny, did a wonderful job on a hundred year old house. There were many little details around the windows that took a long time to do right. Nothing in this house is even and they did a great job making things work. We had them install an awning window in the redone back mudroom and new windows in a sun room upstairs. All the siding was insulated underneath which should help with the heating and A/C bills. They cleaned up every day and were sensitive to our schedules. Nick provided us with all the information and suggestions we needed to make our decisions. We had been told that the jalousie windows were not available but Nick found them. We were impressed with Nick's can-do attitude and willingness to listen to what we wanted to get a maintenence-free home. Nick came out for a final inspection. We highly reecommend this company.

"As a result of very good service and high quality windows, I recommended Mike Murnane to my father (a retired real estate Broker- Rolls Realty- who is about as frugal as they come); he'd been wanting to do something about his windows for years. His ranch was built in 1964, and he'd been looking for a window that would match perfectly with the honey-colored maple throughout the house. Dad had looked at Pella and Rosati, but hadn't found a good match in keeping with the Colonial style of the home, at a reasonable cost. Mike showed my father some products initially, but after more consideration, pursued something he hadn't originally thought of, and returned with that product. It was a different line, but It was EXACTLY what Dad had been wanting- and after the job was completed, his visiting friends were not aware the windows had been replaced because they matched so perfectly. Dad ended up having exterior work ordered as well- he had gutters and gutter guards installed, and bought new shutters to replace the original wood ones. He was equally impressed with the people who came to install everything (this was a different team). They brought carpet protectors and drop cloths, and cleaned everything, leaving no trace that they'd been there. As a result, my sister and her husband ordered new windows, a new front door, and a rear sliding glass door replacement.
I am a realtor, and have recommended Mike, his associates, and Atlas Roof and Exteriors to other agents, inspectors, neighbors, and friends.
What I like most is the value and the price. Mike knows what types of products are appropriate for the style and price point of homes. What would be appropriate for a house in the $129,900 range is not the same as what clients would expect in a $250,000 home; and of course, a home in the luxury market demands something above and beyond. The bottom line is to get an energy efficient window to add value and beauty to ANY home. I believe Mike works to get you what you want at a price that is affordable. I don't detect any of that smooth talking, bait and switch nonsense with Mike. The people with whom Mike works do what they say they will do.
Many home owners are intimidated by such a big investment. We've noticed a big difference in how our house feels as the weather has changed. It's quieter. The temperature is more uniform throughout the house and we're more comfortable. We're saving money because everything is airtight. I feel confident recommending Mr. Murnane and the company for which he works.

"I was preparing to finish a basement and needed to install an egress window. I had received a number of quotes that included an egress window. We decided to delay the full project and just do an egress window. I found Jackson Egress as about the only company that focused on egress windows alone, and I am so happy that I did.
I called and got a quote that was easily half of what the other basement companies included in their quotes. I talked through my window selection and scheduled a date for the install. In the interim they company received a new window type and called me straight away to see if I was interested in the new type. I was, and for no extra cost, they installed the new style..
Two gentlemen arrived for the install and got right to work. No heavy equipment, just shovels, and I was shocked at how fast they were. The install took ~ a half day, and we loved the results. The exterior was nicely finished, the interior work was nice, clear and well finished. They even offered to come back and repack dirt after everything settled, although it was unnecessary.
We love the window and as we have moved on with our basement redo, nearly every worker that goes into the basement loves the window style and I have provided company info to at least two other basement workers.
Highly recommend!

"We replaced the windows in our 1933 home through the services of MadCity Windows. From the initial contact with their sales representative to final installation, the company provided top notch professional work. With the draft from the old windows and the cold of the glass, we are already saving on our energy bills. Our house had old, large windows, so they had to be custom made. As an industrial designer and interior designer, we find our windows to be of excellent quality."

Glaziers questions, answered by experts

Cutting glass yourself can be dangerous, as the edges are sharp and can easily cause lacerations if you’re not careful. Working with larger pieces of glass is especially dangerous, as they can be cumbersome and difficult to handle without shattering. If you’re uncomfortable doing the work yourself, you can hire a professional to get the job done safely.

The height of a mirror behind a vanity depends on several factors, including the height of the vanity, the placement of the faucet (on the wall or countertop), and the height of the faucet. A good rule of thumb is to hang the mirror 5 to 10 inches above the vanity’s highest point. However, you may need to lower the mirror based on the vanity size and overhead lighting placement.

The cost of a window repair varies significantly depending on which part is damaged. Here is a breakdown of common repairs and their estimated costs:

  • Broken seal or fogginess between panes: $70–$245

  • Cracked pane: $40–$100

  • Broken glass: $200–$2,000

  • Sash, seal, or track repair: $200–$600

  • Latch or hardware issues: $75–$200

  • Broken window frame: $175–$1,000

  • Window screen replacement: $140–$480

If you decide to forgo your old windows and upgrade them to modern day technology, there may be some people interested in the old windows. You can try selling them on an online marketplace for around $50 to $100 each (so long as the window wasn’t damaged during the removal). This can also help off set the overall price to replace them.

Installation typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on the mirror size and mounting requirements.
